Maybe Norm is playing garbage sauce this year because he's bored of the regular season? lol

Boogie! wrote:powell needs to go back to being the aggressive chip on his shoulder powell from last year... i realized he forced his game too much to start the season and that's part of the problem with him is finding that balance... he often plays at one speed and doesn't have the savvy or craftiness to make decisions on the fly... hes made some bad out on control drives but i've seen fvv do the same on occasion... i guess the difference is fvv is consistently more productive and efficient where as norm doesn't really have one elite skill to rely on maybe other than his defense... that being said, with og slowing down a bit and the injury bug hitting him, i really really believe that we need to get norm going again... get him some open 3s, allow him to make mistakes, basically play him in the same role og has been playing... it's not like og has been closing games either really, so i don't see the harm in letting norm play around 15-20 mins depending on his performance...

honestly, i feel like with where OG is at right now vs what norm brings to the table when he's on, norm has much more potential to be a difference maker for us in the playoffs... he's really fast, so we should use him in transition similar to pascal... and his defense and lateral quicks and intensity fit well with the rest of the team overall... tbh, i found that og's defense was getting a bit overrated... he's actually not that quick laterally, he just hustles and uses his size to try to contest guys... but in terms of overall 1 on 1 defensive ability, i see norm as the better option. so yeah, i think norm will be more valuable for us once the playoffs hit and i really hope we give him a shot to get his confidence back. he deserves it... the guy saved casey's job both in the indiana series and in the bucks series... i don't see og having that type of impact right now...

If we're talking potential, then I disagree. If you're talking about what they are likely to bring every night, then I still would prefer OG to start. The thing is that Powell is unpredictable, but I really love his effort, defensive stance and he's also a good relief ball-handler. OG is a more willing passer, but the downside to that is that he's far less aggressive. Next to our four other starters, I don't mind OG shying away and passing up good shots for better ones.
All to say, Powell is an NBA-quality player, but OG is more valuable in our first unit for fit and to defend the big 3s in the league. The playoffs will be no different.
