No, because I think he’s overrated.

Yup the yes or no completely depends on the price. If its something like FVV and a couple of picks sure. If its OG/Siakam then no.

Re: Simmons: Yes or No?
Absolutely not, for so many reasons.
1. Simmons only plays one side of the ball, yet earns an AAV of $35 million ($40 million in the final year of his contract). Defensive specialists are not worth that kind of money. A player of Simmons' calibre isn't worth more than $20 million/year.
2. We have a better, cheaper version of Simmons on the team already in Barnes. There would be no room for him on the roster. And unlike Simmons, Barnes is still young, with the potential to develop an offensive game (he showed more on offence in summer league than Simmons has in his entire career).
3. We'd need to trade assets to acquire him. Replacing any one or more of Pascal, OG, or FVV with Simmons makes the team worse now and in the long-term.
4. Even if we did want him, he doesn't want to be here. He's explicitly stated he doesn't want to play anywhere outside of California.
The only way I can see a trade working out is if Pascal has truly burned all his bridges with the team and needs to be traded. We still get worse as a team, but it's a situation where our hands are tied. Under no circumstances should we be trading for Ben by choice though.

For VanVleet, Dragic and a pick or two sure.
Problem is Daryl Morey is asking for the moon.

Fred, Boucher, Dragic (to a 3rd team), couple of 1sts isn't enough to get it done. If it was then hell ya, sign me up.
That package is highway robbery for Philly. Fred alone is arguably more valuable than Simmons. Throwing multiple FRPs on top is insanity.

Re: Simmons: Yes or No?
entirely depends on who we have to give up. I wouldn't do a deal that involves OG or Scottie. I wouldn't do a Pascal for Simmons straight swap. So if what's left can be used to put together a package where we land Simmons without giving up more than one 1st, sure. Ideally something that involves Dragic heading to Philly.

Stop it. There's homerism and then there's this level of homerism lol

I'd rather not have a diva who is allergic to shooting a jumpshot on the team.
I'd rather not trade the farm for a few fake regular season wins and then watch hack-a-simmons in the playoffs.

If it's cheap, sure.
I wouldn't overpay to save Morey's job. Nobody's rushing to do this.

I question whether he actually cares about becoming a better basketball player or just likes the perks that come with being a professional athlete

If you want consistent regular season results and guaranteed failure in the playoffs, then absolutely dedicate a max slot to a guard that can't shoot.

It's not homerism. Ben Simmons is just that bad. If a player can't shoot, their value is extremely limited.

He's 25 and hasn't improved one bit since entering the NBA.
