Freddy had been really underwhelming so I'm not surprised but do wonder if there's either another C in mind or if Raps are still banking on getting Moses Brown...

Interesting I've never thought of that before, cool tactic. I wonder what the trade off for that would be.

Keeping agents happy helps the team's front office reputation when it comes to getting future deals done, or whenever you need trust to negotiate in good faith for example.

Did a little googling and Dekker's agent is Mark Bartelstein. Same agent as Kyle Lowry. So we already know that there's a good working relationship in place.

Makes sense on both counts. Did like Reggie though.

That last cut will be a tough one.

We're in much better shape with Precious, Barnes, Siakam, Birch and Boucher.

Last year it was Baynes, Len, Siakam and Boucher as our bigs.

It's so true. I always felt like the issue with our bigs last year was the depth, not the size. We were pretty good when we went small, but the problem of only having two front court players (not counting OG) who could give any sort of positive production was there no matter what. None of those 5 guys are big enough to guard Jokic or Embiid, but at this point it's more about acquiring talent versus addressing matchups.

Agreed.

Obviously Marc Gasol is ideal, but Gasol is a once in a decade type defender of a big. He was a former DPOY of the year that had an incredibly high IQ and was always in the correct position. We are lucky to squeeze out a couple solid years out of him before his career ended.

Lets see if Freddy G gets on with the Raps 905.

Was nice to see him play with the opportunity he had last year.

Dekker's 8-minute stretch > Bargnani's 11-game stretch

Thank you Freddie, for making me believe in a world where there can be joy and passable athleticism at the 5 spot, precisely when all hope seemed lost.

Apparently Freddie' G-League rights are held by Memphis.

First there was 13 game Bargnani and now we can add 20 game Gillespie to the list. He showed promising signs last year but he just looked bad in summer league and the preseason. Too bad, because he seems like a great guy.

Yeah he seemed well liked. I wish he had taken the next step.

I really like Freddie but this seems like the right move. He'll catch on somewhere though

Absolutely. Bonga 905 without question.

Perry > Gillespie hopefully we can keep Perry in the 905.

Tough choice, I think it comes down to Dekker and Bonga and I like Dekker’s shooting

He's ineligible for the 905. I bet he makes the team based on his overall play and age. I would think the final spot comes down to the 2 27 year olds.

I think 20-game Gillespie was a bit of a myth because he was a good story in a crappy year and it felt like he was much better than he actually was because we were all so fed up with Baynes (who was also really bad, but not quite as bad as most led on). While Gillespie put up a somewhat respectable 10 PTS and 9 REB per36, his -16.2 on/off rating was 6th worst among players who played 200+ minutes and he had the worst NetRTG on the team in the last 20 games. He never showed much of an ability to do anything other than hustle and defend the rim at the NBA level, and we've seen during SL/preseason that he seems to fumble the pass very frequently while having very little offensive game. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in SL because that style of game is so discombobulated and I figured a more structured style (like preseason with more experienced players) would be better for his game, but he was almost just as bad the past two weeks.

Gillespie plays hard he's just not very skilled. I wonder if the pressure to prove himself over the summer was too much. Last year we were tanking and he was playing freely without any real stakes.

Has there ever been an NBA opening day roster with no players over 6’9? You figure every team has had at least a scrub giant or two on the back end of the roster.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

These two were the easiest choices of the lot.
