Re: Dalano Banton Discussion
Need this guy to develop into a top bench player. Playing him a lot this year makes sense.

Whoever the **** decided that quay is pronounced "key" should have been shot out of a cannon then and there.

Re: Dalano Banton Discussion
He just always changes the energy of the team when he’s out there. He definitely needs a whole season of starter minutes in the 905 but he has a lot of tools to be a valuable player. Masai did it again.

The shot is busted but if he can get to league average guy is gonna be a star. Looked great in his brief stint last night.
Also Rexdale Reppin!

Re: Dalano Banton Discussion
I like that Nurse acknowledged his awareness of all the criticism people have of his lineup choices. personally i think we have no idea what his actual strategies are since he sees the season-long big picture and has specific goals and timelines in his mind that we know nothing about, but still he gets that his choices can seem problematic to us on the outside.

Re: Dalano Banton Discussion
Absolutely love the guy. Obviously, some players develop better under different conditions. Dalano strikes me as a utility knife that would benefit from running with the big club and learning from the vets more so than a defined role in the 905. Unless they seriously want him to handle backup point. In which case, a season in the G League would help. Whatever the case, Nurse and management will make the right call. We develop players so, so well. We really are spoilt. Just makes you wonder what went wrong with Malachi? It seems like something off the court, because he's not a bad player.

Also, never knew this: Banton chose to wear the number 45 to honour the TTC 45 Kipling bus which regularly served the neighbourhood he grew up in.

Just like most on this board, claiming he's going to be a star. Look up Dusty Springfield's greatest hit. Why... because he's a Canuck...
Just accept that he may eventually be a good role player. There's a reason he didn't go in the first round.

wasn't the only person on the who got that right was OG?

It is just Dragic needs to gain his value, otherwise, I would have Banton as the backup PG for 10mins a game.
He needs reps in 905. This is the year to do it. Let him play 40 min a night and run the 905. That's likely what will happen im guessing.

Relax a bit, Banton has played in total 29 minutes in 4 games! 29 minutes! Precious played 29 minutes last night
Achiuwa is a 2nd year player with some big improvements, and also playing at our weakest spot.
and Banton has played 29 minutes in total. Used as a quick spark in a couple of games.
While about 14 months ago, Dragic was leading the Miami in scoring heading into the NBA Finals (then got injured-again).
As soon as Dragic gets traded as we can't play 3 players under 6'4 then the former rookie of the month will move into the backup PG role while Banton goes back&forth with 905. Banton needs playing time having only played 27 games+29 minutes of NBA so far+Preseason+Summer league IN 2 YEARS.
I thought you read the response from Nurse, where OP posted the twitter link above.
Banton is already way ahead of Flynn by that Nurse comment, no?

"There's a Fred and there's a Goran and we've given Dalano a run.
Flynn/the former rookie of the month is clearly on standby (Dragic). He has played 10+ NBA games of over 30 minutes and has performed in 4th quarters.
Banton is not going anywhere playing 7.5 minutes per game. He needs on court experience, he badly needs 905.

Reminds me of when Siakam first came in. He got minutes at the start and clearly showed that he had the tools and the body, and then went down to the 905 to get reps in as a primary ball-handler and work on the skills. This kid could be an absolute stud.

Y'all need to relax with the Canadian blinders:
Pascal started his first 30+ games, playing 15+minutes.
>Banton did not play the first half against the Wizards then sparked the team for 10 minutes
>Banton played 5 minutes last night, 5!
>He played 3 minutes against the Celtics.
Hopefully he becomes the next Shaun Livingston, but let's see how that 3 develops with 905

Re: Dalano Banton Discussion
I am pretty sure Flynn's father would rather have his son on Standby than having him with 29 minutes of playing-time in 4 games. The latter would be insulting for the last player being voted rookie of the month.

Re: Dalano Banton Discussion
This is not a playoff team, it’s a rebuild and development team.
That being said, Banton should be getting quality minutes in order to develop. He has more promise and ability then any current backup and some starters. He has shown enough flashes that his time should be in the big leagues, not the 905. If you’re gonna send him down because he doesn’t have a jump shot, I guess Barnes should be sent down to.
It’s a different scenario right now with the big club and 905. The big league team is in rebuild versus the decent team it was before when we had the ability to stash developing players with the 905
If this team is a lotto team, all signs pointing to it being one. Then go through the pain and gain of developing him with the Raps

Re: Delano Banton Discussion
I still don't get how people have Banton needs 905. What makes Barnes doesn't need 905 while Banton needs 905? What aspect in precises terms that he needs 905?
What on court experience in precise? And shooting needs on court experience? If you say blowby his man with advanced moves needs experience, I would agree, but really shooting as it is more practice than experience needs to be on court?

I think it’s all about draft position with some fans, even with some coaches and nba management. It’s also this false thought that the 905 is some super development spot and guaranteed to send us back quality players. Didn’t produce Jack last year, if you suck in the big leagues, development there should be the way to go. It’s supposed to be the best coaching, programs and development we have and also the best equipment and facilities we have.
I’d only ever send a player like Banton down if he had a complete confidence loss, mental breakdown and hit a wall hard. Otherwise let the young man run with the best.
