Every article says they are “evaluating” until at least February 1st. The FO doesn’t know which direction they want to go in yet.

There’s still a 7 game west coast trip coming up btw.

I get the sense raps FO is done evaluating, they just want to use the current time to build up interest and maximize return for the pieces they want to trade. Once a trade goes down, it's full on tank.

Wrote this in deadline thread.

I find it hard to believe team wouldnt move towards another stealth tank after deadline with a record of 26-30 and only 26 games remaining. It would have very different circumstances than same time last year as we were 7 games above .500

Jan 10 - Charlotte - W (18-23)

Jan 12 - Charlotte - W
Jan 14 - Atlanta - W
Jan 16 - @ NY - L
Jan 17 - @ Milwaukee - L
Jan 19 - @ Minnesota - L
Jan 21 - Boston - L
Jan 22 - NY - W
Jan 25 - @ Sacramento - L
Jan 27 - @ G.S. - L
Jan 28 - @ Portland - L
Jan 30 - @ Phoenix - L
Feb 1 - @ Utah - W
Feb 3 - @ Houston - W
Feb 5 - @ Memphis - L
Feb 8 - San Antonio - W

Feb 9 = Trade Deadline.

7-9 record as per above (24-32). But lets say we get 2 extra wins and go 9-7 instead, we would be (26-30).

To put things in perspective on Feb 9 of last year (deadline was Feb 10), our record was 30-23.

I mentioned this before. Last year's turnaround run was driven by good rotation mins by Boucher realizing he may not get a FA offer if he kept shooting to statpad, and Achiuwa turning into a small ball strong-defensive C who shoots at 40% from 3pt in the 2nd half. Could happen (like last game) but I wouldn't bet on it for the duration of the coming second half.

+ easier schedule up until deadline. This year we got a fat west coast trip

We do have a easier schedule after the deadline this year. Hopefully selling off a piece (GTJ) or two (FVV) will correct that

They may have evaluated how much they want to tank, but still have yet to evaluate the as of yet unrealized trade proposals for OG and the such that will come in. I will enjoy it if OG is the sacrifice the tank demands of you, Del. I would enjoy that very much  :P   8-)

I think the Raps FO has a pretty consistent MO, they'll prioritize extracting the best deal possible and if there's one they don't like, they won't execute.

We know they'll make bold moves (Demar/Kawhi, the near-Lowry trade), we know they always have a high asking price and generally get a lot of value in deals, and we know they won't be pressured into making what they perceive to be a bad deal.

I think ppl get frustrated or impatient with "lack of direction", but I think that's largely irrelevant, as situations are fluid and "direction" is informed by opportunity (eg. Kawhi). Committing to a direction first and then making the best of a situation with self-imposed constraints is a recipe for disaster (eg. Babcock w/ Vince).

FWIW I think there's a reasonable chance that one or both of Fred and Gary will be traded, but I also don't think this will result in a top lottery pick just due to odds.

Honestly if we don’t tank moving forward I’m going to have serious doubts about whether our management know what they’re doing. There is literally no benefit to making the playoffs and being swept.

We also have a bunch of guys we can move at the deadline: GTJ, Boucher, Thad, Birch, Flynn, etc etc. Just blow it up completely.

A French-speaking, generational long-boi is up for grabs next draft? Just do the right thing Masai.

I already am doubting their vision. Are they seriously hoping for another Kawhi situation where we get a disgruntled superstar for a bargain basement price?

This already happened this past summer when KD demanded a trade. Nets refused to trade him for a reasonable haul. This waiting for disgruntled superstar is not a strategy.

The Nets best offer was centered around Bridges. That wasn't a reasonable haul. KD would be a Raptor if they wanted to give up Barnes, but that would have been stupid of them.

It's been half a season, but the poll shows there are still people that want to wait and see? What else is there to confirm? This team is flawed - poor half court offense, inconsistent shooting, bad bench, lack of rim protection,...the list goes on. We may end up making a mini-run against mediocre teams but it won't change my perspective on this team.

Take advantage of the parity in the NBA to secure a high draft pick this year and bounce back next year. What's the point of making the playoffs and being first round fodder again? We've won a championship in the past, have higher aspirations.

I said wait and see because I find the poll options a little restrictive.

What does tank mean? Who do we trade? etc?

I can't see us getting a high high high pick without trading Siakam, I'm not sure I want to do that.
