The one concern with Cam Johnson is he's had 2 meniscus knee surgeries with his latest one being a snip. That likely means that it could become a bone on bone issue and arthritic in time.
Obviously there is risk there so if the raptors are willing to take him on as the main piece in a return for OG I hope it doesn't come back to bite them.

Yeah I really don't have much interest in Cam Johnson even when healthy. He's a good player but I think this team is better suited to get a younger prospect back with a bit more upside. Also depends on the number of picks the Suns are willing to give up though.

Windhorst proposed a deal a few days ago with NO.

Dyson Daniels, Jaxson Hayes, Kira Lewis and NO's 2023 1st with a Lakers pick swap.

That's about as good as we can possibly get imo.

There's no way you'll get enough value to trade for a star without him, and you've also traded away an irreplaceable part of your playoff core.

The only trade that makes sense to move forward with Siakam's timeline is to move off of your low ceiling guards.

I agree but honestly who knows. Maybe there is a pick or two attached to OG and we end up with center and guard depth.

If I'm making a trade with the Suns, it's mostly because I believe Chris Paul is the primary reason for the success they've had and without him they'll struggle. In my estimation, they've overpaid Ayton who isn't very impactful, Booker can't lead a team on his own and misses time every year, and Bridges could leave this offseason. Adding to that, a new owner may feel pressure to win now and make some bad decisions, especially after their recent success. Lots of reasons to target future, lightly protected draft picks.

If we can outsource the rebuild via Phoenix and continue to make win-now moves around the picks we receive, that seems like something Masai would be very interested in doing so he can continue to maintain a winning environment/culture he desires to develop the young guys in. It all seems very Masai-like.

I think the only thing missing would be some certainty in the form of a young player about to break out - i.e., Daniels, Sharpe, Murphy, etc., and maybe a subsequent move for FVV/GTJ can bring some of those guys in.

Some of you guys are underrating Cam Johnson and how his game will translate around Scottie Barnes. Cam is an elite shooter, way better than OG. Cam is shooting 44% from 3 and shot 42% last year, OG has never shot over 40% in his career and has shot 36% for the past two seasons. Yes, OG is an elite defender but Cam is solid on that end too.

+ those two first round picks will be way out which could end up being really good down the road.

He said he was surprised to hear that OG is out for the entire road trip. Clearly throwing management under the bus.

From the outside, his coaching and what management have been saying has never aligned. Then Shams said that Nurse has seen his fair share of friction and his status will be reassessed this offseason.

(Suns fan here)
Johnson is actually a good defender, would have him above average defender, but not at level of OG/Mikal.
Johnson actually really athletic, maybe bouncier then both OG and Bridges as a reference. He’s not as strong or has a crazy wingspan like OG/Mikal, but he’s always in the right spot.

That said, I don’t see Phx considering moving Cam for OG. Maybe in a deal for Siakam, any OG deal is likely to be draft pick based

Don't worry we're not super keen on Cam because he's an RFA with 2 knee surgeries under his belt and 2 picks in the 20s isn't that appealing.

Cam 25/27 unprotected is fine for me. You can probably flip Cam for another 1st. He's a 6'8 shooter who's not terrible defensively. Im sure theres a market for him too

If this is one the table obviously the Raptors would take this but I refuse to believe the Pels would offer that much.

I like him as a player because the movement shooting is something that this team needs and he's actually ok on defense. That knee has a high chance of being arthritic tho. I hope I'm wrong but meniscus snips are to be taken very seriously. If he got the meniscus repair then that would have lessened my concern.

I wanted Daniels/Hayes/Graham for Fred. They need a PG more than another wing on their roster.

Just as big as moving OG is, will be seeing if we are now on Pascal or Scottie timeline.

I mean in theory when Barnes is in year 4 or 5, Pascal would be a great complimentary piece at the age of 31, assuming Scottie becomes that great. Maybe the idea is to build around Pascal and Barnes, with shooting, defense and a good bench surrounding them + this years draft pick being the next piece.

I’m gonna miss him man. Can’t believe we chose Mr.39 percent from field and 34 percent from three Vanvleet over him because that’s essentially what this came down to. Him wanting a bigger role, us prioritizing getting our “point guard” shots, giving him a bigger role. All for what? So he could let us down in the bubble, Tampa Season, and then last year’s collapse vs Philly? It’s a joke.

I believe he turned down 4/70 offer, thinking that he can get 20M+/yr on the market
