Actually surprised at his performance and Raptors going on to winning ways this quickly. I kinda figured the Raps were going to win more games this second half with or without Poeltl but it is good to see Poeltl being really good, even better than the version we saw in SAS.

But we have yet to face a good team but the results seem promising. Cleveland would be a good litmus test.

Considering we've gone 3-0 in games we would have otherwise been 0-3, it's not hard to see how impactful he has been. I've been utterly impressed with his play. The way he is moving on offense is moving defenses. He's getting himself in great positions, and that is forcing people to look to pass. This alone makes iso ball take a back seat to hunting down the open guy. Hopefully our guys learn to play off of his positioning. It will take the league a bit of time to figure us out now and that should allow us to surprise some teams.

4 games as a raptor

ortg/drtg/net
raptors season: 114.6 / 113.7 / +0.9
raptors last 4 games: 117.7 / 114.9 / +2.8
yak on: 118.9 / 103.0 / +15.9
yak off: 115.3 / 127.0 / -11.6

15.8 pts (82.9 fg%), 9 rebs, 1.8 asts, 1.5 stls, 2.5 blks

the 103 drtg when jak's on the court makes the raptors the best defense in the league.

And once OG gets back up to speed, it's going to get even better. I can't say if this was the right move long-term and even tho it feels like it should have been done in the off season, we have the benefit of hindsight knowing how badly the team was going to fall off compared to last year. What I can say is that the team is a lot more fun to watch now and this style of play feels a lot more sustainable. We can still have our weird, long lineups but we can also go to a more standard style and I think that kind of versatility is only going to help

Its safe to say we would not have as a good as a 1st round pick if we had Yak at the beginning of the season, so there's that lol

We need a thread.

no order: Bargs, AD (a power forward), Val, Hakeem (lol), Salley,,,,, probably Gasol for 2 weeks.... yuk

Can add Rasho, Willis to that list, and the hall of shame of Jelanie Mccoy, Loren WOods, MengKe Batteer, Yogi, Hoffa, Jerome Moiso
AD is pretty underrated...he was a PF playing C at the time out of necessity but he was an excellent paint defender and help defender who really anchored the D. He was ahead of his time in being a more mobile/quicker stretch center (wasn't 3 point range but hit his shots at the top of the key) with a face up game to beat the slower centers of that era, yet still battled on defense with them because he was jacked, reasonably athletic and had a high bbiq. Watching him Carry the team when carter went down into the playoffs and stretching Detroit to the full 5 games (and lost due to Childs brain fart) with Curry was amazing to watch. When AD left it took FOREVER (4 years) to find a decent center again (Rasho) and really showed how good he was for us. Also Gasol during the championship year was the best defensive center I have seen in person in the last like 10 years.

Trade deadline really wasn't a good moment for some posters here. Many were crying for Cam Thomas, who has now been dropped from the Nets rotation.

I was a part of that crew that always said "we don't need a center just for the sake of having a center".

But Jakob is not here just for the fact that he is big. He is a center who flies around defensively and does not ruin a defense, he props it up. I am a little surprised he has not bogged down the offense a bit but I suppose when you are putting up 21/11 per 36 on 77TS% it is impossible to be a negative guy there either.

I don't think we would be as happy if we got a bigger center (like JV)

I said in the off-season that he was the missing piece for us to be a good team again, and that he's a top 10 C.

Jokic
Embiid
Sabonis
Towns
Adebayo
Turner
Lopez

Those are the only Cs I would say are legitimately better right now. He's right up there with Allen, Ayton, and Claxton.

The difference a real C makes is insane.

Self sabotage over the last few years.
