It's apart of the 82 game schedule.

I'm definitely all for it

How about the NBA making a 10 million dollar donation to a team's charity of choice instead.

#1 priority is to eliminate back to backs which no on likes. Eliminate the excuse to rest players.

The allstar break is too long. Make it a day or 2 less if it will eliminate 1 back to back.

We thought the Play-In was a terrible idea and look at it now. Let's see how it works first before we come to conclusions.

500k for the winning team's players is a huge bonus. A lot of players got a ~1M bonus for All-Star selections a few months ago, so getting half of that for basically winning a few regular season games then one extra tournament game seems like a pretty damn good deal. Even more so for non-stars and guys looking to find their place in the league, that 500k would be huge. It could end up being ~25% of a young player's earnings for the season for example.

Let the winner get a first round bye in the playoffs, that would be a far more enticing prize than 500k per player

In season tournament should be for lottery odds.

I don't mind it. Try it out for a few seasons, if it works it works, if it doesn't get rid of it next CBA. I like that the games count towards RS too so it's not extra games.

500K isn’t chump change especially for bench dudes but they probably won’t get to play anyways especially under Nurse lol.

Nurse? You think Rockets will make the final?

I wish they'd gone with Steve Kerr's idea to cut the season to 72 games.

They should have also added..you can not be voted to an all star if you haven't played a certain percentage of games in the season ... hate seeing fans voting for big name players when they have been injured for most of the year. Their name should not be on the ballot.
That all star award goes to their name when they didn't even deserve it for that year.

Nah man, All Star is for the fans lol. It's not like it's an award for the entire season, all star is basically how well you play in the first 2 months of the season.

My guess is Nurse still stays for the remainder of his contract which is 1 year left but who knows. I don't think Raps fire Nurse without him finding a new team right away (ex. Houston) because I believe Raps would still have to pay him the 8M owed for his last year.

Maybe he does go to Houston next year though, they don't own their pick next year so they wouldn't want to tank.

If teams are forced to compete, I imagine they'll just play their bench players/prospects/G-League call-ups. No way teams risk injury to key players for something so pointless.

Look at the AllStar game. That's what the tournament games will look like if they have no effect on the standings.

The playin gets players into the playoffs. That is kind of the only incentive, other than money, that makes players try. It was also an attempt to reduce tanking, and I think it has been somewhat effective. Don't see why high paid stars will try in this tournament if the games mean nothing.
