You think Scottie signs up for a long-term contract if it's looking like they're going to be a ~25 win team again, with RJ, IQ?

I'd be exploring my options. If next year doesn't work out, you're looking at a full reset.

Here let me fix this for you.

You think Scottie signs up for a long-term contract if he's being offered more than 250 million dollars?

Players dont ask out after a rookie contract, especially when they are on track for a rookie scale super max. Don't be obtuse.

Because tanking is the sure route to success in this league. What did Atlanta get by being in the play-in?

We were literally in the play in last year TRYING to win. You're debunking your own argument.

Tell Poeltl to take the year off if he's not getting traded. We won't even sniff the play-in if we're starting Olynyk with no depth behind him. Can the front office also find a good deal for Brown?

Then what the hell is your plan to build a winning team here? Hope that our mid 1st round picks all pan out?

Why tank when we can trade our 1st for another veteran like Thad/Olynyk/Poeltl... surely those guys will put us over the top.

Lol, I'm not sure Masai makes it past May. Another year of eating "spit" wont work at the board level monetarily.

we could literally trade poetl for a top 10 pick in this years draft given how sour teams seem to be on it.

That's probably a good move, if it's available.

Badonkadonk wrote:If the team is bad enough that it can even contemplate tanking for Flagg at the end of next year (assume bottom 6 to simplify the scenarios), that means Scottie ain't it, that this core is going nowhere and that they're faced with the prospect of trading away one of (if not all) RJ, IQ and Scottie.

That is, unless you're proposing trading away multiple pieces before the season starts.

As before, we are one trade of Poeltl away from a tank.

OKC would be interested. I’d rather get a 2025 pick.

Whatever they do, they've made it incredibly hard on themselves. Especially after not doing a hard rebuild and opting for a quicker fix of the roster.

Okay this year is definitely a tank year.

it'll depend on how they play and things we don't know yet like injuries and other unforeseen circumstances. i think they'll def try to win as much as possible but if the wins aren't adding up, they've already shown this past season that they'll tank at this point.

I cant see the front office intentionally going for a second losing season in a row.

bruh he signing a max extension this summer. no need to explore anything and next year has no impact on a decision made prior to that.

Another sub 25W season means the fans start to walk. A desperate GM means the pick probably gets traded.

I don’t think that will be the plan.

We’re not THAT bad to end up with Cooper. This team when healthy is at least good enough to make into the playoffs.

I’m usually tWo but I feel this team has some great core pieces that would negate a tank. Love Quickley and RJ’s attitude and playstyle. Barnes will hopefully keep maturing and Gradey is a good shooter.

We just need a better C. Maybe a few more reliable sharpshooters and I can see us making a run.
