Money move for Minny. They couldn't afford to hold all those big deals long term. Knicks took advantage.

Sounds like a good way to lose Anthony Edwards to the Lakers or Heat in a couple years.

I think Gobert is the key upfront and Reid can take on a bigger role so Minny should still be really good in a UTA Mitchell/Gobert way. Towns is a lot of empty calories, but he should still be a decent fit for the Knciks.

Tim Connelly shat the bed, both with the Gobert trade, and now the Kat trade. He got lucky he inherited Antman

Kinda helps offset the loss of hark

Theyre a lot bigger in the middle with bridges and og

Kat is probably closing out a lot of games at centre.

Hart Brunson bridges og Kat

That works against the Celtics, big time!

I think KAT wanted out, that would make the most sense

Looks like Minny cheaping out with this trade.

Didn't realize they had the second highest team salary this season.

Towns 49M
Gobert 43M
Edwards 42M
McDaniels 23M
Naz Reid: FA next year.

It was going to be almost impossible to keep everyone together. It was basically Reid or Towns and they decided to keep the younger and cheaper Reid.

Wow, wasn't expecting this one.

Not sure how much I'd rate it for either team at the moment. Love the Donte fit for the Wolves, especially if he's coming off the bench next to Dillingham but Ant/Randle/Gobert doesn't seem like a particularly natural fit, especially factoring in the spacing with McDaniels.

They sold high on Kat and bought low on broken down Randle.

This is one of those makes sense in a board room type of deals for minna

I bet they also get a lot of future picks they don’t need and won’t help them until it’s too late

…sims is probably going to minny I bet!

I like it for the Knicks. They've got an impressive nucleus now, but man do they need some quality depth. That or play Precious 30 mpg, hehe.

“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Why does it feel like they want Naz starting next to Gobert.

Really can't see it unless they move Randle to a third team. I don't think you give KAT up for somebody you plan on bringing off the bench.

Knicks got better after this trade, I like this move for them

Let's see if it works out, but between KAT and Bridges, I like what they did this summer

I thought the same thing but the Gobert Randle pairing seems like a nightmare. Naz atleast opens the floor. I honestly think Randle might come off the bench.

Knicks are hardcapped at the 2nd apron now and are going to have some difficulty fitting in the salary for their 14th man.
I actually like it for the Wolves. They get another ball handler and won’t be relying on Dillingham too much this season now.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

He paid a lot for Gobert. But I think this is a trade both teams had to make. It would have been hard to get out of KAT's salary for at least the next 2 years and he got an expiring + Donte; that's decent value. Yeah Randle doesn't fit, but it doesn't really matter; they were never going to retain that salary slot.

As for the Knicks, they couldn't afford to lose the Randle salary slot. It was either trade him now, trade him at the deadline, or re-sign him. No guarantee any trade will be there at the deadline for a real salary they can add to the roster. If they've already decided Randle doesn't fit, they had to make this move.

I think both sides felt uneasy making this deal, but ultimately knew they had to.
