Shoutout Pascal man. Homegrown talent and amazing to see how far he’s come as a player and person.
Easily one of my favorite raptors of all time. Well deserved my guy.

Very proud of him and happy for him, he's one of the most genuinely good dudes the Raps have ever had, and that also goes for his talent

A good team that loses in the 2nd round (at best)?
Pascal was great but after him the drop off in talent on the roster was significant and those next tier guys would have been making too much money. Hard to improve when you’re capped out and don’t have time to wait for draft picks to develop into meaningful contributors.
I’m very happy for Pascal. He’s putting together a pretty impressive career for a 27th pick who couldn’t shoot a lick his first few years.

Wasn't a good team fit....Siakam needs a different 2nd best player to play with beside him than OG/Barnes/FVV....Which is why it was hard for these teams to even reach playoff birth status.....Our benches were also always thin....Siakam needs a full good team along with a better or equal level player beside him....
If we traded for KD that offseason and gave up Barnes you could argue we might have made a run....But thing is the East was also not as easy as it is today....So who knows how it would play out...
But yeah....Anyone who thinks we could have built a legit contender around that team without making a move is lying to them self....We would have needed to trade for a legit superstar to pair Siakam with to be a finals team...Or had the same luck with the East becoming less competitive and injuries to Celtics...

We have the best development program in the NBA, we have to continue battling and fighting. The Pacers journey to becoming a contender has been incremental improvement every year and they made very good trades.

Not saying that Pascal would always be our #1 option, but even if they reach treadmill, the Raptors would have much better assets to trade and make deals, then what they have now. The guys we had were still young, not old veterans, with some moves they couldve competed again.

Its possible but Masai did try to trade for a player for Siakam to run with....But could never get the deal done.....Like i said at that time the east wasn't as barren as it is this year and how its looking next year as well...In 2022 and beyond the east had legit teams in front of them....Butlers Heat, Embiid Sixers, Tatum/Brown Celtics, Bucks were a legit threat back them times as well with much better team....
The East will be the weakest next year as well that it has been in so long.....People want to fault Masai or certain posters on here that wanted a new direction....They also do not factor in that Siakam/OG/FVV were ALL becoming free agents....FVV Walked in FA, Siakam was going to leave as well had we not traded him as well as OG.....These guys didn't want to stay in Toronto...Thats no fault of Masai....I bet if FVV stays that offseason (Which Masai wanted to do) and OG/Siakam commited for 5 years we would still be running with that team today .....These guys wanted out behind closed doors...

I mean you can say that now....But there were legit rumors of him wanting to be with the Pacers....OG was basically already a Knick which we all knew....We have no idea how the convos went....But its not out of the relm of possibility that these guys were going to leave in Free agency....Which is why they were traded.....Lets say even if Siakam stayed with this current team Masai has very few options to build a title contender with that.....Pacers while making it to the finals to me are not a legit threat to win the title....I don't think OKC loses this matchup unless something crazy happens like a injury to Shai or Jdub....
At that time there were a whole lotta rumors that they wanted out of Toronto even if it wasn't said in the public eye.....But i will trust Masai judgement there is a reason he made the trades he did....something obviously wasn't going well behind closed doors that us fans were not privied to..

I think this settles the debate: Spicy P > Tatum and Brown.

I know it is hard to transition but the last 2 rounds:
Pascal taking 17.5 FGA vs Hali taking 16.8 FGA makes Pascal the 1st option.
Pascal taking 13.4 FGA vs Hali's 11.4
He has been the Pacers leading scorer in the regular season and playoffs for the last 2 seasons.
Time to transition, Pascal is the number ONE option of the Pacers.

Re: Pascal Siakam Back into the Nba Finals Celebration Party
Siakam leaked to the media that he wasn't going to sign an extension with any team besides Toronto. What more evidence do you want? It was only after our front office made it clear that they were not going to offer him the supermax that the rumors heated up. it was the right decision at the time to not offer the supermax, that contract can kill a franchise for the wrong player (ie Beal). Our team wasn't ready.Clutch0z24 wrote:NinjaBro wrote:Siakam didn't want out of Toronto. He wanted the supermax.Clutch0z24 wrote:

Not quite sure what you're saying here. That Pascal would join Kawhi as a winner/leader on two different teams? Yeah, that's wild.
So Kawhi left Pascal in Toronto for the Clippers and forced the trade of SGA to bring in PG. And never got to the Finals again. And now SGA and Pascal are both MVPs of their respective conference finals, while leading their teams in the Finals.

Re: Pascal Siakam Back into the Nba Finals Celebration Party
Very happy that Siakam is back in the Finals. He's really one of the hardest workers we've seen imo - to see how his game has improved from being essentially just a hustle/fast break big into a very well rounded game is so impressive.
I have OKC winning it in 4 or 5 as I think they just outmatch IND at every position. Siakam vs J dub should be a fun matchup. But otherwise, OKC's talent and depth trumps IND everywhere else.

He leaked that because he didn't want to be traded to Portland or some other bad team which would have been a lotto team at the time......He wanted to choose his destination (Which was the Pacers)....Again we are not privied to all the information....We have no idea what was going on behind the scenes....Its also not out of the relm of possibility Siakam walks for nothing that offseason which played a part in him being traded....There is a reason we could not make a deal with any other teams besides the Pacers that mid season trade deadline....Its because thats the place he wanted to be and we got a low ball deal because he made it known.....So other teams didn't offer jack...Thats why we didn't get a draft pick in the 2023 draft because he leaked that he only would sign here basically making them teams not want to trade for him (Since he didn't want to play for them)
