Even if the Raps hired a new President, he'd still likely let Bobby runs things for 1-2 years. Once a new guy fires the existing guys and hires his own people, he's on the clock because he can't blame the last regimes people anymore. I don't think much changes in the short term, even if they hire someone other than Bobby.

Not extending Pascal was not the right move. You extend him then trade him.

Doubt there would be much of a market for Pascal on a max contract.

Bobby probably walks in that scenario.

I always knew Masai was the problem.

Possibly, but Masai calling Pascal selfish was weird indeed.

I wonder if it went back to covid and Masai resented Pascal not touching a basketball for months before the bubble, and it cost them a run at a second championship.

Probably depends on his options and who is hired. If they hire more of a business guy who lets Bobby handle things, maybe he stays. If they get a more of a hands on basketball guy, ya, it won't last long.

Anyone notice that Tolzman got more time in front of the mic for draft this year? I think there is a good chance Bobby gets the Prez and Dan gets the GM. Fingers crossed.

Yeah it ends up being a weird situation where if they do well, Bobby has nowhere to get promoted outside of leaving the organization.

I'm sure Bobby really wants the job, I don't think MLSE is going to give it to him. My hope is we give the job to a younger GM from a successful organization ready to step into the president role (you could argue Bobby is among those type of candidates). I think MLSE is going to go for the splashy hire like Bob Myers who is living off reputation and not what they'll actually bring to the job.

The most seamless and pragmatic move is to promote Bobby to President and Dan to GM. I personally don't see an executive to continue what we've built here at this moment.

I was just going to post this. Give Bobby the president and promote Dan to GM, no need for search.

Also just wanna say, Masai crying during the press conference when he traded Demar is mickey mouse. Empathy is a good trait to have as a person but terrible for a GM. We need someone who's cutthroat. Someone who can have dinner with your wife and kids at your house and trade you to Minnesota the next night if he thinks it's best for the team.

In this climate, it’s very hard to move large contracts that run 3-4 years. Our core needed to be moved.

Masai was wrong in how he treated some of his veteran players though. And it’s a shame because they put a lot of work in and helped us bring a championship.

A few years ago, Bobby was that young GM from a successful organization. Troy Weaver came from OKC and look at how that’s working for Pelicans and how it worked for the Pistons.

Problem is they are trying to replace Masai the personality, not Masai the basketball guy.

Ed doesn't roll that way. He exclusively targetted old retreads for the Jays president job.

He's going to sign someone like BC or IT here.

That's Danny Ainge. It doesn't work so well in Utah. You have to work with your market.

ya, you can be cut throat in LA or MIA because players will still want to be there, but you can't burn too many bridges in TOR or UTA or most NBA markets other than the big 5-6.

Aside from rogers/masai feud, maybe they were not convinced this "rebuild" or "reset" wasn't to their liking and felt it was rushed

Yeah we are gonna be in slander season here regarding Masai for a while now.
