Scottie isn't entitled to be the face of this team anymore, he needs to step up because his job is in question this season for the first time in his career. One preseason game isn't the evaluation, he's on a trend of coasting, and he needs to buck it.
That's a big problem with tanking teams. It's a culture killer & a motivation killer. Guys get gifted tons of minutes & eventually feel they are deserving of them. Someone also gets gifted the "franchise player" label, even if they don't deserve it. Bad work habits develop. Bad attitudes develop.
I have no doubt that Scottie will & turn things around & help us win some games. There will be a stretch of games where he will impress the hell out of us. He is showing up kinda soft so far though. We may not see the more competitive Scottie until the regular season starts. Psychologically, he reminds me of a mix of Dwight Howard (too easy going sometimes) & Demarcus Cousins (emotional/ loses focus).
I really like Scottie as a player, but he is definitely not the Demar or Pascal type who hyperfocus on improving year after year & adding skill. Demar, Kyle & Pascal all got the most out of their size/ athleticism/ potential. Scottie always looks like he is coasting........not living up to his potential.
