Thoughts now on parting ways with Masai

The Raptors had 5 total playoff appearances before Masai showed up in nearly 20 years as a Franchise. Most of those were ones were we barely sneaked in.

He delivered 7 straight years of playoffs, ALL OF WHICH we were a top 4 seed for. This also included multiple trips to the conference finals and an NBA Championship, the first in the history of the franchise. The post 2020-Raptors haven't been great but to say we "sucked badly" for most of his time here is **** stupid. Seriously get out of our fanbase.

So tired of these entitled fans who bandwagoned to the Raptors when we got good in the late 2010s and aren't even aware of how **** this franchise was before Masai got here. Used to celebrate with pizza for scoring 100 points and spend every night praying that Bargnani would learn how to grab more than 4 rebounds in a game.

Between 2013-14 and 2024-25, the Raptors had the FIFTH BEST cumulative record in the league and were SECOND BEST in the East.

If Masai deserved to go then the entire FO should've been let go. Firing one and not the other makes no sense unless it was for financial reasons or some personal Ed Rogers vendetta.

I didn't think Masai/FO should've been fired then and still don't. Our player contracts situation is rough though, and so remaining FO is justifiably in a "prove it" stage, but they deserve at least this season to see if this rebuild is on track.

I wouldn't have whacked Masai. That said, I felt like Masai stopped doing what he was best at - which is identifying great talent in the draft, in free agency or through trades. So maybe Masai's time was done. I voted Other.

Nah, we have one of the smartest FOs in the league. Masai mistreated both his best players. Siakam by being too hard on him and Scottie by handling him with kid gloves. Something was off with him the last few seasons. Let the cooler heads run the show. This isn't Miami and Masai isn't Pat Riley. You can't get away with that stuff in this market. Masai will be great with the Clippers. The Raptors will be back to normal with Bobby et al.

imo it was like Danny Ainge in Boston. He wore out his welcome, but the architecture he put in place thrived in his absence.

A change was needed. His philosophy went off track. It looks like he was correcting his mistakes as of late but he gave ownership enough ammo to take him out.

he had too much going on and it was time for him to go. it should have been done a couple of years ago.

i still think it was a mutual decision. he will be happier focussing on his philanthropy and the raptors will be happier with Bobby focussing on the team.

It's time to part ways with Drake. The DeRozan hate over music, a significant part of the fan base has never heard, is a conflict of interest. Team ambassadors do not dump on former players, especially significant former players.

I was skeptical at first but now that Pellie is more involved, im all for it. We need a fresh new basketball mind like his to bring us back to greatness.

Time will tell really. If we start hearing bad things from the players, it will be telling......but I don't expect it will get to that.

I think Masai was a great talent evaluator & a great GM. That's where his value is at.

Is it worth paying Masai big money as a President and also Bobby as a GM? Probably not.

Sometimes people move up the ladder & you aren't getting the same production or value from them anymore. Then they become expendable.

We got to the playoffs far too often. Tankers hate that. Therefore the suckage was bad, in that we didn't suck enough.
