Mark of an owner who just believes whatever the last thing someone told him. Oh my idiot GM wants to give away a young top 3 player? Ok, I trust him. Oh the fans are saying it’s the worst trade of all time? Ok I’ll fire that guy.

How on earth do you back Nico in the first place 9 months ago? And I wonder where Jason Kidd fits into this, maybe he wasn’t in on it and has been quiet quitting since.

Hard to imagine what the hell anybody was thinking in that situation. All time worst trade in all of sports probably.

Not worse than Vince for two bad Williams'. They can trade AD for more value right now than what we got for prime Vince Carter.

Not sure who actually initiated that trade but damage's already done. Even if it were owners wanting to trade Doncic, Nico Harrison should've walked away rather than have his reputation dragged through mud before getting canned less than a year later. Career suicide for NBA executive.

Focusing on the incorrect part of the trade.
Vince couldn't even tie Luka's shoe-laces and had already proven that he would intentionally tank/sulk/lose games.
Luka took his team to the NBA finals and is a legit MVP candidate in his prime and his value was at it's peak.
AD is 32 year old broken man who has played more than 62 games in a season once since 2018.

..and we all know this trade was corrupt to the bone, going back to Nico's ties to the Lakers and his longtime friend Rob Pelinka.

I'm so confused. Please correct me.

I thought Luka was traded by the owner's mandate.
Nico deserves getting fired for the stupid return he got. But that stupid Mavs owner is still there - what's to celebrate?

So, you think broken down 32 year AD won't get more than two late first round picks? I think he will.

Getting 3 first rounders and Max Christie for Doncic is far worse than the VC trade. You are talking about a legit MVP candidate.

You know what the craziest thing about all of this is?

Nico could have easily waited until last summer and extended Luka 5 years with the super max and then waited until the trade deadline to deal him on the open market with probably the biggest bidding war in NBA history.

If Nico didnt trade Luka, the NBA wouldnt have rigged Dallas to get Cooper Flagg. It will work out in the end. He did his job. :)

Could have used the two 2005 draft picks to trade up and draft Chris Paul. As Harry will tell you.

2006 draft pick could have been used on Lowry (or Rondo). That would free up the 2013 first to draft Giannis.

Chris Paul, Lowry and Giannis. Seems like a good return to me.

Ya they did but they are owners and do they even know much about basketball?

Nico was their advisor and he gave them very very bad advice so bye bye.

It was crazy to trade Luka to begin with, it was crazier to only reach out to Lakers for the trade and accepting the awful return.
Some shady things had to happen under the table, it just doesn't make any sense what so ever.

Still missing the point.

Set the value for disgruntled, deliberately tanking VC, who already said/played like he wanted out of Toronto.
Now compare Luka's value, as an MVP candidate, top 5 in the game, and having just taken Dallas to the finals.

AD was still like a top 20 player in the NBA at the time of the trade. I'm not missing the point. I see the relative difference as not particularly close. They're both bad trades. There was an excellent player exchanged in one of them. There was crap and the promise of more crap in the draft in the other.

The most inconceivable trade of all time followed by one of the most (if not the most) improbable lottery wins all of time going to the team that handed the NBA's golden goose franchise (with a declining competitive window) a young MVP candidate without shopping him around first. Just all a strange coincidence. Let's blame Nico.
