KAT is still 20,10,3. Knicks aren’t going to trade him for a step back. They’re a finals contender with him this year at least

We don’t have the pieces the Knicks want unless you want to give up Scottie and CMB. This is not a buy low candidate since Towns can still produce.

Re: Knicks are shopping KAT - Should the Raps pursue?
I would think they’d be looking to
upgrade, but I’m not sure any of the teams mentioned have a player currently as good as KAT.
Is it a depth move? Financial?
If so, we may be able to compete with the teams mentioned. I’m not the biggest fan of KAT, but he is way better than any of the other names floating around (I do not consider “healthy AD” to be a real person).
While there’s no indication that this is being discussed, I’d probably consider a trade built around BI to be a pretty successful recuperation of his value.

I don't think I wanna pay KAT $53M a year.
But KAT is a perfect 5 next to a Barnes 4

The shooting threat would be helpful despite this half-season sample being a little concerning on that front. Pretty skilled too.

I really don't like KAT. I think it's very difficult to build a team that can contend with him being such a liability at a position where it has a magnified effect. That said, I guess if we're literally turning our worst contracts into him, sure.

Kinda split on the guy. I mean, he's what we need offensively from a big man but he doesn't play defense. And asking price is going to be higher than those buy low candidates that we've been linked to. Would not want to attach multiple future picks for this guy. In this day and age, that should be limited to superstars or an all-in-last-piece move and his acquisition would accomplish neither.

I think it's a huge red flag that the Knicks (generally viewed as a contender) are looking to trade him.

I always thought he could be the Porzingus for another team like the Knicks similar to celtics. Surprised they wanna trade him, guess they really need defense in their front court.
I'd love to get him on our team cuz he fits a need and fits better, I think we'd be contenders with him easily.
Let's go get him and Jrue Holiday

KAT would be a great addition. People are dumb and have short-term memories.
the issue in new york is mike brown. he's pretty much lost that team already. and didn't stick up for his player when draymond was being a goon to kat.
how would you think the team would react if darko did this???

Yikes.
But there can also be two issues at the same time. One of the last games, KAT lay on the ground for entire defensive possesion, didn't get back, even when the ball was tapped out to half court, didn't get back... and ambled back into play and gave up an open 3.
KAT doesn't win games when it matters.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Trade RJ and IQ for Kat would be hilarious.

Maybe the Raptors should try some reasonable, cap conscious roster building for once.

The idea that he's not "buy low" is quite suspect.
We actually have a trade to compare it to. He was traded after likely his most successful season in the playoffs with a genuine great performance against Jokic. That netted a talented, but locker room cancer threat in Randle and a solid Nova guy with a middling future 1st.
Now he's older and his last playoff stint ended in an embarrassing defensive flameout confirming what the haters thought.
It's not that far out from our RJ/Jak plus a good pick/swap, even if you need a 3rd team for RJ.

Randle is not a locker room cancer, where is this coming from? He might have been unhappy in certain times but he literally led that franchise turnaround, even before Brunson was signed. The Knicks were in turmoil and a laughing stock for many years (remember the Phil Jackson era?) until Randle came in and made a positive change to that org, and suddenly, they started winning again. He's also beloved with the Wolves now, and is outplaying KAT this year. Randle is good for the culture, certainly more than Kat. Ask the wolves fans

I mean if you can get him for IQ and Jak... You can't really pass that up right? I have no clue why they would make that deal though.
Might as well have them throw in Kolek, so we have a backup PG. I just don't really see why they would want anyone on this team outside of Scottie as a centerpiece in the deal.
