Casey referred to Pierce's drive yesterday as a "Texas three-step." Lots of laughs

Derozan simply has below average handles that are being exposed. Livingston and the double teams destroys him, no matter where he gets the ball... He needs to start being more of a facilitator. Recognize the double and immediately pass it to the open man.
He seems to have a fairly poor field of vision though, and you can tell that most of his concentrative efforts are being focused on trying to not lose the ball. He was also extremely nervous... Which didn't help at all.
Hopefully he's better in game two. I think he needs to pretty much only shoot the balls off screens, and he needs to immediately look to either drive or pass the ball otherwise. Also, no 3s at all... Even if he is wide open. He hasn't shot well from outside all season, it's not going to change now.

Re: Playoffs Game 2 GT - Tues, April 22nd /7:30pm /TSN / ESP
Some of my key adjustments I'll be keeping an eye out for in game2.
Close outs: Too often our bigs would jump at their perimeter players on pump fakes. Val, PPat and Amir all did it multiple times. Our bigs would jump, basically taking themselves out of the play and allow Brooklyns perimeter players to get in to the lane and pick us apart far too easily. Raps need to run them off the three point line, but close out under control so they do not take themselves out of the play. Derozan tried all of his usual pump fakes but Brooklyn never jumped to contest them, and so he ended up taking much tougher shots. That's where you can really see the difference in experience, nothing wrong with giving up a contested shot. Our players are young and energetic and are trying to go all or nothing on every play but they need to be smart or Brooklyn will continue to take advantage of the over-aggressiveness and pick us apart. T-Ross had to pick up a couple of fouls on the help because our bigs were over aggressive
Get the ball out of JJ's hands: JJ is a very methodical ball handler because he has been able to put our defenders on his caboose and take his time strolling into the lane and surveying the floor. At times we did a better job doubling to get the ball out of his hands and recovering on D. The key time to do this is when Livingston is on the floor because he is not a threat out at the 3 point line, so we can afford to rotate away for him on the perimeter so long as we have guys in the paint waiting to contest his mid range jumpers. Raps did a solid job of that at times. JV also has to do a better job of hedging when JJ works screen and roll. JV is giving up too much space which allows him to stroll into the lane and get up his floater. When PPatt and Amir are the hedgers they are able to get the ball out of his hands because they do not allow him to turn the corner and put our guy on his back. JJ is not really a threat to split on the screen so you can be more aggressive with your hedge
Attack the rim Brooklyn has no interior presence whatsoever in their starting lineup. Lowry can get to the rim whenever he wants because KG is too slow to prevent him from turning the corner to the rim on screen and rolls. Once he does turn the corner there is nobody left to stop him. Lowry needs to be more aggressive because there is simply nobody who can stop him on their team. When Plumlee is in the game he at least provides some rim protection. If we can find a way to get DD to turn the corner on screens he should also be able to feast on the nets starters in the paint as well. Livingston is really the only one on their team who can stay with him and prevent him from getting the ball where he wants it, so he needs to attack especially when he has a guy like Thornton on him.
Get Amir in the paint? Too often Amir would have the ball out on the perimeter and try to create his offense by driving. He has a size advantage over pierce and I would love to see him get some looks in the paint where he can just turn and put up his baby hook. I'm not sure Pierce can contest it well enough to stop him. By getting Amir in the paint more it will allow him to be there for offensive rebounding opps and it should also allow JV to crash the glass. JV and Amir should be feasting on the offensive glass with pierce and garnett on them. Can the Raptors take more advantage of their size in this series going forward?
