You're probably right. Maybe..

It's extremely upsetting when a coach SABOTAGES a team for any lack of good reason. Now I know it's easy to sit in my armchair and criticize an NBA Coach having never held such a position - but when you've got hundreds, if not thousands of fans, and as of recent, a veteran basketball player in Chuck Hayes at a loss for the bonehead moves the coach is pulling - maybe just maybe it might be the right thing to do - for the sake of all of our sanity and for the future of this organization.

I still feel that Dwayne Casey would make an EXCELLENT assistant coach, he's very talented at a few things which would be valuable to many organizations - I STRONGLY feel that he is not suited for an NBA Head Coach position. What ever benefit we could have reaped from his time here I feel we have already reaped. Unless we want to remain complacent maybe such drastic measures are the only way we can make progress.

I respectfully disagree.

Sure, we are not packed with championship talent - but with a core rotation of guys like Derozan, Lowry, JJ, PPat, GV, JV, Amir and Lou - I think even with a mediocre coach, one that doesn't sabotage his own team with bonehead moves, we should be able to win a series against Randy Wittman and company. Now, I don't mean to downplay the talent of the wizards, but with the way they are being coached - it's just hard to accept - and I don't think talent at the player level has much to do with it.

Where things stand right now, our only shot at winning is with Lou and GV playing hero ball and praying that their shots fall.

Players suck, coaches suck, 49 wins ... what am I missing here? Is it possible people are panicking?

Everyone thinks Pierce playing PF hurt this team, and was biggest problem in Game 1. But closer inspection, its not conclusive.

2nd qtr - 7 min @PF. They were +10 and made a run. Biggest issue though was our offense, as we only scored 8 points in 7min.
4th qtr - 8 min @PF. They were -13, and we made a run.
OT - +7, again offense was issue as we scored our first basket @1min mark and it was only because Wizards were contesting the 3.

I don't think we need to match up with Wizards if Pierce goes to the PF. We just need to play our game, and execute on the offensive end.

I don't even know if playing Jonas more would resolve the rebounding issues. Due to our defensive system our players are always scrambled all over the floor, and Jonas may not even be in prime position to rebound the ball most of the time. And if he is, it may be because he isn't doing something right on defense.

Lose lose for Jonas. I'm so tired of this defensive system.

Just because a thousand idiots say something doesn't make it smart. I respect your feelings, but how many times in your life has anyone asked you to make a decision on the competence of someone to coach basketball? I wouldn't because you actually think he's sabotaging the team, and don't sound very rational to me. I've believed all along that Masai is a better judge of how good a job Casey's doing, and I'm going to rely on him. I doubt he is in the dark regarding Casey's use of JV or JJ, and I think he will make a decision based on the entire playoffs, which are far from over unless you believe lightweight Toronto fans who all too often gave up on games throughout the year that the players did NOT give up on and went on to win. Go Raps! We win this game and it's 1-1.

$60,000 fine. $35K Ujiri and $25K for the organization. Ouch - That would put a dent in anyone's wallet.

I guess in the bigger picture, with the amount of money fans dump into the organization especially due to the success as of late, it can be seen as a small cost to keep the fans motivated. I'd much rather see them replace Casey :)

I totally understand what you're saying. However, I do feel that we cannot discount the fact that other than the "thousand idiots" we've seen players, namely Chuck Hayes, as of late who have shown their concern and agreement with the sentiment of the fans.

I do not consider myself smarter than, or in a better position to judge personnel then Masai Ujiri - however, as a fan, and as a member of the greater society, I've seen that many times change does not happen unless attention is brought to the problem. My comments on the "Fire Casey!" chants were probably more out of frustration than rational thinking, but I would not be opposed to the attention that such chants would bring. The chances of Ujiri listening to a bunch of fans and not doing his due diligence before taking any actions are slim to none. After all, this organization is a business - and sometimes when the money is being raked - management may not see any reason to shake things up. My hope is, perhaps by showing the way we feel - at the very least we can see some sort of result.

Just my opinion.

Sometimes bringing upon immediate change could potentially ruin the long term. I'm not saying that Masai has something up his sleeve, or rather I don't know if he does, but a lot of the times these GMs and management organizations have figured these things out long before the fans do. Though addressing the problem immediately may not always be the best decision. Fans want change because they think ridding the problem will absolve them of the torment they've been suffering, and that's what we thought would happen with firing Sam Mitchell. However all that did was replace one problem with another when we hired Jay Triano, who was just as bad.

The only thing that firing Casey right now would do would be to appease the fans, though without a plan, where do we go from there? If Casey is fired it has to be because firing Casey would lead to a move that would better the team, not because the fans want to see him gone.

You saw one bad game from Wall and U are saying He isn't that good. He was first with CP3 with double-doubles (40) Westbrook 3rd (31) from all point guards after regular season. As bad as Wall and Beal were in Game 1 I'm sure they will be better in next game. The same as I am counting on way better performance from DD and KL.

Generally Wiz-Tor backcourts was meh all game long.

Well said. I wholeheartedly agree. Let's hope Masai lives up to his expectations. I trust him more than any other GM we've had in the past.

Return to Toronto Raptors
