The Raptors are a different type of team. We're not just looking at physical attributes or what they've done, but their mentality and where they fit. Winning defensive awards bodes well, any guy coming in committed to playing defence will fit this teams culture. I feel like the guy is going to be well developed, as long as no major drama happens in his life he should be on his way to being a solid player. For us its not a lottery, we will polish the right mindset dudes into great players, as long as they are motivated

That was my only concern when watching. I thought we were taking Terry or Theo tbh. Even Bey was darkhorse if they wanted big insurance to incase of Ibaka or Gasol. So many guys we talked about were there and we passed. Masai and Bobby have earned our trust, but I can't help but feel a little low on the pick. That mostly stems from Flynn only measuring 6'1.

I like his game. He has the full guard package. He defends hard. He is a good shooter. His PnR game is good (which will be very valuable).

My biggest question is fit. Under the assumption Fred is resigned, will they be able to play together?

Regardless, I'm glad we didn't go for a big in this draft.

Some raptor fans are way!!!!!! too sensitive and going on rants about people bashing the Flynn pick. Nobody has bashed the Flynn pick except for typical trolls. For all we know these are fans from other teams. What most people (including myself) has said is something is up with picking Fred Jr while there’s is talks of Fred leaving. I mean even the guys at TSN had to ask the question about if this is a pick to cover their a.. if Fred leaves. Bobby is saying Flynn is going to be learning under Fred and Lowry but Flynn is not some kind of project. That guy can play in the league because he is a high IQ basketball player and those guys can usually play right away because they’re not prone to many dumb mistakes. Now let’s say Fred stays then our future PG’s are going be 2 undersize PG’s ? Sometime just seems strange here because it’s unusual to have 2 undersize PG’s as your stater and back up.

Gotta love half the posters on this thread acting like they know every facet of Flynn’s game and is the perfect pick but in actuality have never seen him play and was never mentioned in any pre draft threads.

I was thinking we might take Maledon when he dropped, but Flynn has been my number one choice for us in terms of realistically being there, as par as PGs go. He's a lot like Fred and will have no issues plugging into our system.

The issue of backcourt size is a bit overrated imo if your smaller guards are good defenders. On shooters they're good at getting up and under to make bigger players uncomfortable, and are better at screen navigation. And it's not like SGs are gonna be posting you all game, if you're a good defender, just because they have some wingspan on you.

I see a lot more advantage to running 2 PGs if they can defend and shoot on top of running the offense, than what you lose with size disadvantage.

Can't tell what his finishing is like with 2 bigs in the paint all game. You literally can't tell at all, one way or the other. You would have to see workouts with NBA spacing. Looks like he has lateral quicks and deep range. Good enough for me at 29.

Raptors fans are always with this lame “he looks like____ insert every biracial person with very light skin. This guy doesn’t look like any of the players you guys name. Another “Fred looks like Drake but in reality Fred doesn’t look like Drake. I mean I’ve even people on here say Flynn looks like Blake or curry, ect.. since when does Blake and curry look alike ? none of those guys look alike and you’re guys just playing the “they all look a like” card.

This guy doesn’t look like mike Bibby either. You’re just basing that on them being biracial with similar skin complexion and nothing more. Let me guess he looks like Zach LaVine to right ? How can a player look like 4 -5 different NBA players smh Does JJ redick, Theis, Dragic, Doncic and tyler herro all look alike ? Enough with the “very biracial player looks a like” nonsense. It’s borderline racial and corny.

None of those guys look alike smh

I think his defense will translate. This guy is a pest and will chase through screens.

Yeah, didn’t realize he shoots a ton of 3’s which is why his fg% is low.

Almost 40% from the left beyond three. 71% at the rim. 33% at the right beyond the three. Looks like he knows his spots.

Completely sucks at the corner threes though.

The Raptors do an amazing job of developing players' corner 3. I fully expect Flynn to develop into an elite shooter under the Raptors' development plan.

He can play defense, dribble, shoot, and go to the rim. I like this pick you can't have a bunch of 6'5 guys playing guard. We would get burnt by the likes of Kemba, Kyrie, and other small guards.

I think Maledon and Terry were my picks because of the trust I have in the 905 system. The only project the Raptors took on in Masai's tenure has been Bruno. It went pretty badly so I would guess they are looking to avoid anything of that sort.

It makes sense however to pick a player that can produce right away. The way Jimmy Butler came to prominance was he was very playable right away. Using NBA minutes to learn the speed of the game while playing with FVV and Lowry would be great for him.

Like his game but surprised they took him, not enough playing time to go around. At least he'll shoot a floater.

You’re a goof. He was one of the most talked about guards in the 200+ page draft prospects thread we had.
