JJJ isnt in line for super max didnt meet qualifications.

but the issue with him is his value and decreasing contract, a 140% raise on his salary doesnt give him appropirate value
so the griz have been creating cap space to raise and extend him, they need around 13 mil cap space
(dumping marcus smart + 1st) they had about 7 mil space after todays trade they have around 4, they will dump another small contract and get to 14 mil to do the raise and extend.

Great trade. Bane is on a 4 year contract. Those picks are gonna be late 20s except the Sun's one. The chance of drafting someone as good as Bane is extremely slim. And the timelines align, Franz and Paulo are here now.

well 2025 is 16 and as you said 2026 is more than likely a lotto pick. that's already 2 out of 4 that are not in the 20's

So really this trade was to get away from cap hell. Big 3s are no more and they decided to go with Ja & JJJ.
Makes the raps financial books look even better , we may not have that superstar #1 but we have plenty of players who can function as a #1 or #2 and be under the tax & 1st or 2nd aprons

If you look at Weltman's decisions since joining the club almost a decade ago, he's had a lot of misfires. I think this will be another one. For me, these heavy pick packages would only be offered to real stars (and i love Bane's game)

Pressure is on Mosley to get the most out of this group. ORL needs to come out of the gate next season much improved or he's likely the first coach fired.

Bane is 10 times better then Dick. Dick kinda blows. Horrible defender, can't dribble or hit above the break 3s. The Raptors should try to trade him at the draft if they can when he still has value.

A lot of people talking about how bad the Siakam trade is compared to this, and while I agree that it definitely makes it worse, the real star of this?

How much worse that Luka trade looks knowing that THIS is what Bane pulled from ORL. Insanity.

The Luka trade was an all time bad trade but the Mavericks did get a top 10 player in return. The problem is that they should have gotten a top 10 player on top of multiple picks. That’s what made it so egregious and I’m a Lakers fan!

As far as the Bane trade the new CBA is really **** up the market. Either you draft, develop and end up paying or you over pay through trade to lock in your core for a 3-4 year run and flirt with the luxury tax. This is why I was always in favour of stacking multiple picks building through the draft.

Teams like San Antonio, Houston, OKC have an inherent advantage in that they can do trades like this without severely hampering their future flexibility like we’re seeing with the Knicks, Cavs, Wolves for example.

Siakam was on an expiring deal and Bane is locked up until 2029. You can not even compare the two.

Even with Bane being a better 3pt shooter, and a better defender. I'd even give you 1 tier higher, Bane isn't 4 1st better than RJ. RJ is truly most hated and criminally underrated with how he's treated around here & this trade. I'm noteven mad at Orlando, I'm usually for going after a player that you targeted, steep cost tho possibly
