And by that I mean that lots of the conversations about this team and its players have been already been hashed out a million times over during the spring/summer and people have long staked out their positions in that regard. At this point it's all about judging things on-court during these first few months of the season and going from there. And I think once we get some games in (and have something new to talk about) we'll see board activity increase but obviously I don't think it'll ever be what it was at its peak during the Babs to BC era.

you mean some of the older realgmers were very passionate arguing about someone like Rokic lol....... a 3rd stringer who was a Babcock pick

or those amazing Calderon vs Ford debates

honestly....yes, the analysis been eeked out.....nothing new

personally i think IQ may end up surprising some ppl, BI will excite ppl until he gets hurt, Scottie goes back to what works for him, and we are a .500 team.
Scottie's going to be a 30 percent shooter....he's going to clunk a lot but hit a lot....

it seems like Darko believes CMB has more offensive upside

Agreed.

I'm loving the un-narrated footage. Feels like I snuck into the practice.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

I hope I'm wrong but I watched Mamu a bunch on the spurz last year and he can't defend the rim or his own man. IMO he's not an NBA player. (again)...I hope I'm wrong.

That’s not great to hear. I guess the hope is with all 3 of CMB, Scottie and Jakob being good-great defenders playing alongside him will help hide him a bit. We shall see. I expected his defence to be bad, but I’m interested in seeing just how bad.

They don't need him to do anything more than run the floor and drill 3s. It's kinda the Bobby Portis/Obi Toppin role as back up C.

Honestly I don't see Mamu playing a huge role off the bench at all. He is here because is takes up space inside, can space the floor with his shooting and grab a few rebounds. And for 10-15 min a game...that is fine.

Although I believe we will see more lineups that have CMB as a small ball 5 by end of season and probably more Jakobe or Mogbo playing backup minutes by end of season as well.

So Mamu at the 5 for 5-15 min a game isn't a huge deal for me.

If he can defend and drill the 3, he will worth close to Myler Turner.

He is a backup who would probably plays around 10mins per game. He just needs to drill the 3s and box out grabbing the rebound. Kelly and Castleton can’t really defend against opposing offensive centers like KAT either.

But yes, he may end up as Carlson.

Yeah that's pretty much it. Cmb is gonna be tasked with making him look better defensively than what he is and mamu with his spacing is gonna hopefully make cmb look better than what he is offensively. That's the hope at least. Synergy.

It all depends on if the shot is falling. If its not...tough.

I could see that working for a few minutes here and there.

I also found his defense to be quite terrible on the Spurs. But I watched him with Georgia this summer, and he was pretty good. We'll see, but I'm not expecting much tbh.

I think it will be closer to the 15 mins than the 5 mins. Just from everything I’m hearing Darko say he really likes Mamu. And he made it a point to say Mamu will be the backup 5 from the first day unprovoked. He also brought up Mamu unprovoked when I believe Samson asked him a question about CMB. He really likes Mamu

If he doesn't work out it's Mogbo. I think when Darko was with Memphis they ran huge rosters and kept everyone's minutes down.

It's the moderation. Crappy posters are overly positive, and new...they like new. Don't want to scare them away by pointing out nuanced faults in the long term plan. The level of discussion has plummeted.

If we could moderate based on the quality of arguments there would be far fewer posters here. Our job is to make sure posters are relatively civil with each other and to maintain the integrity of the forum. We can’t police the board based on posters’ opinions.

It wasn't so fun when Mogbo was in the corner throwing up brick after brick. With the unforgiving camera silently lingering on the unfolding catastrophe. And then Samson and Es came on to validate my own observations. I had hopes for that guy, but ... rn I'd rather have the Mormon dude. Chomche better be ready to help by the playoffs.

I still think he’s there to keep Scottie happy and they don’t really expect anything with regards to production. He’s already the 12 th guy, and they plan to play 11.
