And that's where having another BIG C who can set screens, would help.
Both Barnes and now CMB slip the screens early to run to the basket. Certainly makes it looks like it's by design. They never just stay there to let the PG go around fully.
Very odd
Honestly, I still think this board underrates Jak. Regardless, we can look at it two ways: we need a big who sets great screens AND we need a PG who can get to the paint on his own and pass.
If Shead could shoot like iQ we’d already have traded IQ.

That's IQ. The polarizer.
I lost my mind when he didn't fight through that screen & sprint with Melo. (Edit: it was sexton)
Jumped out of my chair when he hit that shot.

To be fair, this looks like it should have been switch. That is on Shead as much as it is on IQ. You switch ball screens like that 100% of the time ESPECIALLY when it is Shead coming up from the screener.
And give Lamelo credit. That is a good finish over a good contest.

Best +/- of the starters to be fair, and was the most efficient starter to despite a bad 3 point shooting night.
This Shead vs IQ thing is gonna get old very, very quick. Pretty funny how you ignore Shead was 2/7 from the field though

I mean what does the Shead archtype even look like? A best case is like Jrue Holiday?
There are like 2 Jrue-esque guards in the entire NBA. One is 35 year old Jrue who is paid more than IQ right now, and Jalen Suggs who is perpetually injured. Which Shead-esque archetype guy is realistically obtainable for us who would be better than IQ? I have asked this question to people a dozen times now and never seem to get a name

The starting five are important to the team’s overall success, especially with a young bench.
Hopefully that game-winner helps IQ regain his confidence. The Raptors need both him and Jakob playing their best basketball post All-Star break and into May.
It’s great to see CMB no longer helping opponents up after fouls.

Yes but he needs a screen. Plenty of point guards don’t.
This isn't really true outside of like legit star PGs. Quickley's frequency of being a PnR ball handler is 21%. That is VERY low for a point guard. Some other examples league wide:
Garland - 43%
Ball - 42%
Giddey - 40%
Nembhard - 40%
SGA - 38%
Murray - 37%
Brunson - 37%
Doncic - 37%
Reaves - 36%
Mitchell - 35%
There is a whole bunch more, but just for an idea of how often other guys are using the PnR. But FWIW - IQ is in the 84th percentile as a PnR ball handler. Our best pick setter is currently out. I wonder if that has any correlation to some of his struggles.
But it is just isn't really true that other PG's are somehow way better without screens. There is a LOT of screening action in the NBA. Something we haven't had since Jakob went down unfortunately.

Ah yes forgot him - but White also isn't really a PG and hasn't played the 1 since maybe like his early SA days.

I wanna see more double drag screens being set, that 1 single action was why these same hornets were able to beat the Thunder

We're all used to Scottie taking a night off every 5 or so games at this point. And in his defense (which I don't come to often...), his highs are much higher than IQs which helps him navigate the lows with the fan base.
Both guys have unrealistic expectations on them - by both the fans and the franchise. And the franchise didn't do them any favors by handing them the keys prematurely.
IQ was better than Scotty in this game. He never stopped fighting and worked tirelessly. Yet there is still a fixation on his faults/miscues.
It's an obvious bias. It really is some golden child ish.
It’s funny too because everyone was **** on jalen Johnson the other night “oh how does he put up stats he’s kind of just floating around” and then Scottie has one of these games and no one says anything.

Re: PG: APOLOGIZE TO IQ
More like apologize to StarJ , Bobby should apologize to him as well..no BI no Scottie and 16 points in the 4th . 17-6 with him in the lineup 6-9 without!?!? Am I getting that properly!?
I dont think Bobby will have the ####s to trade IQ ; breaking the OFFcourt chemistry ...
23w-15l , we are right on track despite almost all of shooting guards including IQ underperforming; and it's on Darko
Im glad we won't have see Charlotte anymore.

We can't afford to miss any of our scorers because we have no scoring off the bench. I doubt we do any better with RJ in the lineup and Ingram out of it. That's just the reality of our roster - starting lineup is too expensive.
