Trading TJ Ford in conference will come back to bite them
Andrea Bustani speaks the truth, never slurps every move the raptors make.

Andrea Bargnani 08-09 stats - 7 points 2 boards on 39% shooting
Jose CONderon 08-09 stats - won't be as good as TJ 5 star General Ford

If JO can stay healthy and play near his all star numbers then that would be great. I have my doubts on his injury though. Hopefully there are more trades to come. I'll miss Rasho though. He was underrated and could guard the big 5s. I dont know if JO can do it because he is more of a PF like Bosh. Please BC have something else up your sleeve! Like a winger....

They're getting rid of him cause it's finally time to rebuild. They can't win with him as the centerpiece so they're starting over.

yeah it might, but at least it will be good to see him play. I always liked him, even if i thought the team played better with José. Plus it will give us some more interesting Pacer games.

The need to get rid of Ford should not cloud the Raps judgement because we will be lucky to get 50-60 games out of Jermaine and with Bosh's questionable durability there is a strong chance that next season blows up in our faces and we are a lottery team. This seems like a deal Isiah Thomas would make. Jermaine has one bad wonky knee that's just gonna get worse and don't delude yourself because when you are that big and heavy and have had multiple problems with the same knee it slows you down considerably even when you are supposedly healthy.

Last year this deal wouldn't have even come close to landing O'Neal.

I was watching...it said agreed in principle, not done deal. Agreed in principle is the same tidbit we got from the yahoo article, so this isn't a done deal yet.

You're right that it said agreed in principle, but that is not the same. First of all, the Yahoo! article said they were close to doing the deal, not that they had agreed. Second, "in principle" could be all we get until July 1st.

I feel fairly secure that it won't. I wish the best, but I don't see a lot of success in his future.

The only difference is that Philly didn't have to give up anything of value in that trade.

Am I the only one who doesn't like this trade? Do we seriously want J.Oneal to play center with his injury prone body? If not, then he is just redundant with Bosh at PF position....

i think having two post players and 3 players who can spread the floor like mad in calderon, parker and Kapono will be VERYYY dangerous the only problem is defense which calderon improves every year in the league so maybe his defense improves. Oneal can absorb some of Kaponos but i think that one more star and we actually are championship contenders. Doesnt have to be someone whos amazing like a jefferson but even a guy like Ben Gordon sort of like the Ray Allen trade for boston a lineup of:
Calderon
Parker
Pietrus(MLE)
Bosh
JO

Can compete in the league the way i see it:
- Rondo can beat calderon off the dribble, calderon way better shooter
- Parker can guard Ray allen and stretch the D
- Peirce is worked on the defensive end by Pietrus, Pietrus is a excellent man to man defender and JO is in the middle to absorb any mistakes which LA didnt have
- Bosh=KG
- JO kills Perkins

i think it will be a good series. Rondo will go for steals but calderon isnt turnover prone so he will burn him. Adding a guy like pietrus who plays good D and can score by getting to the basket as well as shooting the three and the raptors have been interested in the past and the MLE can get him.

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

After thinking about it, that TJ-Charlie trade was pretty big. Not only was TJ a great player but Colangelo got a potential team changer for TJ. A lot rides on health and the way Sam uses his new roster too.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

This reminds me of the excitement when the 76ers got Webber. Much ado about a player who has clearly seen better days and is on a downward slope. We need some perimeter defence in the worst way and given the fragile health of O'Neal at this point he is not much of an upgrade over Rasho and will play less games. So basically we gave away Ford and the 17th pick for free. Seems like a desperation move by BC because there's nothing else he can do.

exactly how I feel

small part of me is optimistic, that he'll play 70plus and look close to what he used to, but...he's old. And his body is even older. And he's become just a jumpshooter on offence, nobody is really mentioning that

only thing he'll really help is our rebounding imo. Is his d even an upgrade over rasho? because I don't think his offence is. At all. I'm expecting a pretty in-efficient 15 or so a game

I can't believe people are upset with this trade. Ford would have a negative impact on our team next year with the PG controversy.

Getting a legit center is HUGE for us. Remember Dwight Howard absolutely abusing/manhandling us in the playoffs?
