In terms of height, Diallo may be a bit taller, but he doesn't appear 6-6 to me. I haven't seen any measurements of Jones to compare to Diallo, but he looks pretty long. Diallo may have the size to play either guard position but I don't see him having the ballhandling or passing skills to play the point. I don't see Diallo's athleticism as other worldy. I'd compare him to Demar in that regard.

Maybe he's worked on his skills over the past year, but just going on what I've seen from high school, he has a long way to go. (That's not to say Jones doesn't). In regard to Jones' .425 shooting percentage, you have to keep in mind that 45% of his shots were from three, bringing his overall percentages down. He certainly has to improve in that regard though.

DeMar's turned himself to quite an impressive player. Then again, not many guys will work like DeMar. However, I'd say Diallo has the tools to be the defensive player DeMar isn't. Diallo's length is very similar to Norm's, which is impressive.

As for Jones' percentages. Yes, he takes a lot from 3 and he shoots a bad percentage on them. That doesn't look good for a point guard who's supposed to be the smartest player on the floor. If you can't shoot, don't shoot.

It's the work that truly separated Kobe from everyone else. DeMar is similar, though perhaps not as obsessive and not quite as naturally gifted. As you say though, not everyone works that hard. I'm not sure if it's even possible to begin to get a feel for a guy's work ethic before you draft him and start working with him. If it were, Kawhi would have gone higher.
Diallo is as athletic as anyone we'll find in our range. The only thing I can think of is you watch him go through workouts and see how he handles himself. Does he like when the intensity picks up? Has he been working on things that actually show? eg. handles, shot, conditioning.
I wouldn't draft an athlete just to draft an athlete, but I understand why you are quite willing to take a gamble. We need a major injection of talent on this team. Heck, I need a reason to watch again because I'm bored out of my mind and have been for a while.

Can we attach Carroll and the #23rd pick for the #27th pick (Brooklyn) or the 28th pick (Lakers)?
Or do we need to throw in a 2nd round pick as well? (Do we have any left?)

The more I watch Diallo, the more I see Jason Richardson. Similar two foot jumping athlete, as far as shooting form goes, it looks pretty similar as well.

At 6'6 instead of 6'3 helps him out. Will he be better than Kelly Oubre? Could be another Gerald Green.

Could be better or worse than both. I remember watching Green during the McDonalds all American game and dunk contest. He looked like a superstar.

Yes, combine gets going today. Lets see who impresses the scouts and get some measurements.

Not much difference between 23rd and 27th.

Carroll at this point may be zero or negative value. I doubt Nets or Lakers do this.

I think Marks should be very interested if that trade offer is on the table. BKN is not going to get any top-level free agents and they need to be accumulating picks as much as possible, or moving up from the current picks they have. Taking on Carroll to mentor a similar a guy like Caris LeVert on defense is a win-win for them since they'll probably be terrible for another 4-5 years and they're not going to actually be able to tank for themselves until 2019. A team like the Lakers makes no sense since they're still the Lakers and can hit on one free agent at any given point who suddenly wants to play in Hollywood, and I don't see Magic/Pelinka as guys who are looking to take on more terrible contracts, whereas BKN can afford to at this stage.

Highly doubt the Lakers would since Carroll eats up some Paul George money

Brooklyn might. They have every reason to go for 9th next year since their pick is going to Boston. They won't be able to attract any FA unless they severely overpay like Crabbe and Tyler Johnson last summer

Yes. Finally some new data. Side note: Chriss and Maker were the stars of last year's combine. Who comes out on top this year?

I can see Bam doing well. Kid is an athletic beast. He's starting to rise in my opinion.

Ike Anigbogu should do well at the combine. I think he'll put up the biggest showing, as a lot of the top 10 guys aren't participating I believe.

Masai has not drafted a shooter during his time here (unless you want to count Bruno).

I think this is the year he will do it and I think he should do it. We have a need at PF/SF.

Who are the best shooters at our range?
-Leaf
-Lydon
-Semi

What do you think of these guys? I'd probably take Leaf if he had more 3PA and higher FT%.

EDIT: I'd add
-Peter Jok (though he's a shooting guard)
-Justin Jackson (MD)

to the list

I think Mike Schmitz tweeted a video of him nailing 3's. That's almost like adding Biz with a jumper
