Fair enough. I'd forgotten that he'd won a series with Houston also. And yeah, it took until his 4th year here before Lowry won a series with us.

But yeah, that series victory in 01 was a big deal. That was Vince at his absolute peak. 2000 and 2001 were the best seasons of his entire career... and he'd folded like a cheap suit against the Knicks in 2000. Just an absolutely dreadful performance against New York in the playoffs. He still shot quite poorly against them in 2001, but he was hitting his 3, and we had good contribution from Alvin, AD and Childs to help support.

I think it’s between the ears with Scottie and I’m not sure if it’s something that’s fixable. I’ve been pretty supportive with Barnes but this is a reoccurring theme with games like tonight where he looks very uninterested and discourage on offense.

Is it because the ball is in Ingram’s hands a lot and Scottie is being told to stand in the corner on some possessions? Does he expect to be the hub on the offense like Jokic? I know he’s a good defender but last night against the Nets, I saw glimpses of him faking effort on D. Something concerning…

Maybe he is frustrated by always having to cover for other guys.

Guards can't stop POA, make Barnes run around chasing guards.
No real C, shove Barnes at C and make him bang against 7 footers.
Play IQ, RJ, BI, Gradey, who are all bad defensively, don't worry, Barnes will run over to help.

He is being asked to do way too much on defense when Yak is out. Burning that energy in defense hurts offensively. If you watch the games with Yak out he spends more times in the corners on offense to catch his breath.

Vs Boston he went from chasing Pritchard around to battling Quenta. It just burns energy being at the disadvantage constantly.

And on offensive, he just isn't a natural scorer no matter how much he practices. BI is. RJ is. Barnes 1st instinct is to pass. His numbers have gone down this month because he can't handle more offence AND defense. Without both Yak and RJ, it's too much strain to pick up. Guys who bring no defense like IQ and Gradey "should" be the ones picking up offense while Barnes and CMB pick up the defense. But IQ slumped, Gradey is Gradey. Etc...

We just have a flawed lineup that when 1 guy gets hurt, we lack replacement level guys. When 2 are hurt, you get the crap we are watching now.

We just have a flawed lineup, yet, he is not part of the flaw on this flawed lineup. Having two near-max contract and a starting PG salary that we can have replacement level guys, where most teams won't be affordable with. Just great, it is always others.

BI is a natural scorer. He has the ability to ramp up his scoring game. Barnes doesn't have that.

By that same token, go ask BI increase his scoring AND go chase Pritchard around at POA. Or go play C on defense. It's going to fail.

Our roster is flawed, BARNES INCLUDED, because each of them are good one one side of the ball, flawed on the other. When Barnes has help defensively, he is better offensively. Having RJ takes the offensive pressure off of everyone else because there is more to shoulder the load.

Barnes got his contract because he had a ROTY and All Star seasons in his first 3. EVERY team gives him that contract. That contract doesn't make his flaws go away. And still, we are talking about him having 4 bad games in a 7 game stretch as if it's the only version of him. Just ignore the 2 great months he had beforehand? IQ last 7 games has had 1 good game.

This starting lineup has guys who do things others can't..offensively and defensively. When a link is broken, it's matters. Losing RJ's paint drives matters. Losing Yak on defense matters. IQ not hitting 3's matter. IQ not having Yak for screens matters. Barnes not having Yak for those inside bullet passes that only Yak can catch matters. Etc...

Individually, just are not good enough...starters and bench. That's why this team should have no untouchables, Barnes included. Reality is we had a SG go down and not one of any of our 4 SG's stepped up to fill any of his scoring. And neither has IQ or Barnes.
