Not sure of #. I'm sure everyone misses rotations and I recall blaming Kleiza for that one dunk.

JV finished with 2 pts (1/3 FG), 2 rbs, 1 TO in 12 minutes. +5 for the team.

Kleiza takes the blame for not recognizing that Lav couldn't make it up the court. So yes partially his responsibility but again the fault of Lav. To be fair, he did get taken out for it.

I'll say it again though, I will never understand why JV has such a short leash on this team. Not only that but they freeze him out of offensive possessions. Not every time obviously, but a lot. The game didn't change at all with JV out. He got the hook when Lithuania was up 3, then it was an even to 3 point game for the next 5 minutes.

Both of these guys needs a good beating. Just call the Ukrainian bros while we at here.

JV4MVP wrote:Lav bro is better than JV in this tournament so ppl need to relax. And JV has fresh stitches in his head. D-Mo is in there b.c. he plays PF.

Lol at the refs for blatantly missing the call to give UKR a chance.

D.Lav. started the tournament better than JV, but hasn't been better since. Even when JV struggles to finish one on one, he remains very productive on stat sheets. Just looking at his stats, its pretty obvious he should play more.
It seams like he needs at least 5 good possessions to gain guards trust. Guy shoots 73% from the floor, just give him the ball once in a while, even if he butchers it, he is still the most efficient player on a team.

The whole team takes blame for sleeping today, Ukraine scored to easy, theyrs defence was almost enough to take this win.

Ill share my thoughts bout JV's leash. 1st hes nothing spectacular so far, not much better then other bigs. 2nd hes taking alot of damage during the game, those guys just keep hammering him, so coach trys to protect him i quess. 3rd Kazlauskas said before champ that this team's power will be bigs, so he keeps rotating them alot, so they are always fresh, and can exhaust other teams bigs.

The Val/Dmo combo was excellent in the 2nd quarter. Got the lead up to double digits IIRC and once they changed it up - Ukraine went on a huge run to end the quarter which set the tone for the rest of the game. Dont know why we didn't see that lineup again (not counting the start of the 2nd half where JV got yanked out within 2 mins or something).

LTU coach can never settle in with a lineup it seems.

I disagree. JV's been fantastic. Apart from a couple bad games- which he's absolutely entitled to have- he's been one of Lithuania's best players. I'm sure some stat guys can absolutely back that up, based on the limited stat analysis I've seen so far. The issue is you can't yank a player every 3-4 minutes (OR LESS!) or else he never gets in a groove and never gets a feel for the team he's playing against. He never even gets the chance to make a couple mistakes, often he makes one and he's done. Often those mistakes seem minor too. Not only that but the game is played with a certain tempo and energy level and when you bring a guy off the bench you have to let him take a minute or two to adjust to it. Luckily, Jonas is a player with a very high motor so he usually only plays with one up tempo gear anyways, but still the psychological effects of a short leash can really mess up a player's ability to get in the game.

Basically what I'm saying is 3 minute spurts is not long enough to determine how a player is going to play when he's as good as we all know Jonas is. Jonas could have a couple defensive lapses in 3 minutes (nothing significant) and get zero touches on offense and then block 3 shots and dominate offensively for the next 7.

Well to get it straight he had 3 bad games, 2 average and 3 good ones. He played more then 21 min in average/good ones. For a team that have 3 c's and 2pf/c and its leader is 6th guy, who eats most of pf mins, 21 of 40 is low ? And in bad ones you didnt need to let him get into grove, because it was obviuos he doesnt do great, gets nervuos, starts exposing himself and opponents too injuries. Im not sure you understand how deep LT are at PF/C, should look at other players resumes. And before you say resume aint everything, i wathced all games closely, and there were moments where JV was failing to deliver, but Lav came in and fixed that. There were moments where JV was sleeping on def, Javtokas came in and fixed that. Ofcourse i agree hes best C we have atm. Thats why he logs more then half available minutes at C, when he gets in goin.

The less minutes JV gets from here on in, the better for the Raps.

I'm glad he is practicing & staying in shape, but I don't want him burnt out.

The bad news is that LTU has a good chance of playing Spain in the first QT game. Ideally it would be Italy but Italy would have to beat Spain. Croatia is also in the mix.

Spain and Croatia are the most realistic opponents in the first QT and it will depend on how they do against Italy and Greece.

If LTU plays Spain you might as well expect that the coach won't have JV out there defending Gasol. He would probably start Javtokas. Hopefully they won't be matched up against Spain.

Anyone getting the feeling that Spain threw the 4th quarter? I wrote this on the GB:

Weird 4th quarter for Spain in the last 3 minutes. Not saying they're tanking intentionally but some weird things:

- Calderon fouls 3 pt shooter with less than 2 minutes to go
- Rodriguez misses 2 foul shoots with 30 seconds left
- Left driving lane open for Belinelli (and didn't recover a "easy" rebound)
- Threw dangerous ally opp play with less than 1 minute left (although it worked)
- That defense on that final play was lolz.

Hopefully Spain is indeed trying to lose intentionally. Will make it slightly easier for JV to win something.

Edit: wow at Gasol's defense. They're def losing on purpose.
