Damnit.. I saw that too but was praying there was more then one team from our division in the lottery.. Bryan may have hinted at him too in his end of season presser when he was talking about some athletic prospect that could be a possible project..

How can he be a project if he is 21 years old...?

21 is pretty young and there is still the age old excuse that big men take awhile to develope.

Are you talking about Vesely? (He's the only prospect in the top 10 that's 21) If you are, I don't think BC was talking about him at all, because when he was talking about a 'project' it was in answer to a question regarding us getting a defensive 5. Here's that question and answer from his presser:
Q: When you talk about getting that defensive minded 5, is that for the sake of getting a defensive minded 5 or to overcome some of the deficiencies in Andrea's game?

A: Probably both, because we don't have that, and whether Andrea's here or not I would think that we need a guy that can do those things. Defending the rim is a huge element of our game these days, and post defense, as much as you want to say let's score in the low blocks, a lot of guys can score in the low blocks, you can post guards. Andrea's gotten better at posting up. He doesn't always power to the basket, but there's things that we can be doing as a group that improve that interior defense, and I think that we need that regardless. In the draft there happens to be a couple of guys that can possibly do that, the issue might be that they're probably more what I'll call projects than immediate impact players. We have to make a determination whether or not we have the stomach to wait on a guy, or do we take advantage of the assets that we have to go out and acquire that in some other form or fashion?

Personally, I think he is clearly talking about one of Biyombo/Valanciunas when talking about these 'projects'...it doesn't sound anything like Vesely imo.

Thanks for finding that quote by BC, bboyskinny. I was going off vague memory, so to see what he actually said is clarifying. When BC first said that I was thinking along the lines of Biyombo and Val also but for some reason I remember it being in a "we're leaning towards drafting this kind of guy" context.

Enes Kanter didn't even want to participate in the Kentucky combine. I think even scouts don't know enough about him, there is only so much you can learn from workouts, pass on Kanter.

I'm reading these scouting reports on Alec Burks and he looks like an allstar. Does anybody know anything about his game? They're saying outside of Kyrie Irving, nobody can create their own shot like he can. And it looks like the weaknesses that he has are very minor and correctable.

Who the hell wants to participate in the combine when you're guaranteed top 5, you're risking yourself out there in the combine with piles of scouts grading u and the scouts there are grading those who are potentially 11-15th pick range or 6-10th pick... u know that right?

.........and there is so much you can learn from EVERYONE from workouts, pass on EVERYONE.

The only thing I've heard about him is that he is versatile but lacks superior strength but he wants to play like Lebron James out there on the court. I've heard this from a fan that watches him play this season.

He's one of my favorite prospects, and should be in play when we pick. He's fluid, dynamic in the open court, a good rebounder, and can likely spell major minutes at the point. Needs to work on his body, jump shot, and foot work defensively.

Didn't some user here say that he would trade DeMar for Alec Burks? The guy is definitely an intriguing player. He reminds me of James Harden. If he was an inch taller and had more weight to him he would be a perfect SF to pair with DeMar.

Kanter didn't even participate in the Kentucky combine? Who doesn't show up to a work out that showcases your own school's players hosted by your own coach to look good? Wha a pussy. Guy is gonna be a bust for sure. Hasn't played in a year and then wont play in the NBA untill the lockout is over. Theres not even going to be a summer league for him to ease himself into the nba game.

Can he play D? Does he have range? Could he and Demar play together?

Sounds like an intriguing player and having two wings that can drive would be great. but someone needs to hit a 3 and both need to be able to play D

A couple of huge warning flags have recently come up with regards to Burks, scouts say he puts zero effort in on defense, basically saying he gives up when screened. Another thing scouts worry about is that he hasn't developed his body much at all and that might be an indicator of where his mindset lies in improving.

At the very least, with Demar you have a guy that's going to put in the work to get better and he leaves it on the court.

I'm weary of Burks, love some of the things he does but a guy without range, apparently without work ethic and without effort on the defensive end just doesn't appeal to me all that much.

We're trying to get away from the country club atmosphere, not add to it.
