All the tapes were destroyed when Bosh's tears flooded the room.

After going through this thread, why wouldn't it surprise me if doudoub turned out to be the super-sycophant Nav Bhatia?

Too bad it's over. Cyrus and you have given me plenty of laughs.

Have Wade and Lebron asked Riley to trade Bosh yet? Raptors are so lucky they didn't give him the max for 7 years.

way to go Mavs

WOOHOOO!!! I missed this whole thread, but I just saw the highlights and Erick Dampier had to put his arm around Bosh to console him as they walked to the dressing room. Anyone have that shot, or a gif? lol

Congrats to Dirk I'm glad to see him win one.

We might just have seen the end of an era though. This will likely be the last of the spend to win teams. Mark Cuban while celebrated as an owner who "wants to win" has consistently outspent nearly every other team in the NBA in order to put a Championship cast around Dirk.

The Mavs and a 91 M dollar payroll this year. With luxury tax it will be over 110 M dollars spent on players. That's DOUBLE..yes DOUBLE what the Bulls spent. Their starting lineup was paid more than 8 other teams paid their ENTIRE team.

This is absolutely not to take anything away from the players or the fact they won a championship. Anyone who tries to spin that I said it did will get a very crude response.

What I am saying is that future Champs under the new CBA won't be built like that anymore. Its not good for the profitability of the NBA as whole to have owners simply outspending other teams. The Cavs have been spending huge money for a long time and it finally paid off but its good for them that it did because we will likely never see it again.

Mavs are one of the few contending teams to make major overhauls, stay in contention and later win a championship. Usually a team will get close, try and make a drastic move to get over the hump and never get any better. I'm trying to think of the last team that was able to do it. They only had 4 players from their team two years ago. Incredible.

That's becuase not many teams can sustatain a 100M payroll year after year trying to get the right pieces. The Mavs had a ton of relaivley unproductive money tied upo in Damp and Diop. Center is a very difficult positon to fill but Cuban was willing to spend bug $ on even mediocre centers to put next to Dirk. Mow he's put 20 M dollars worth of Chandler and Haywood next to them.

They basically beat the Heat without Butler and Haywood, so I think they could have been just fine if they were lucky with injuries

The Heat can blame themselves for losing the game. Geez.... they missed TONS of free thows. It wasn't just one guy.... It was the whole damn team. 13 Missed free throws. If they made even 5 or 6 of those, it would've changed the game.

Lebron's dismal 4th quarters hurt the team.
Both Lebron and Wade should have kept it more simple.. They were too fancy with the ball, over dribbling.

When JTerry outplays both Lebron and Wade in terms of impact, that says something.

I think Bosh did his job. He did have a solid game. Wade and James just had too many turnovers (5 and 6 respectively).
Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!

So Butler and Haywood had no impact on their record in the regular season, their run to the finals?

I'm not looking to battle about injuries. The Haet spent 12 M on Hasslem and Miller who both had majopr injury issues. What I am saying is that the Mavs have been able to consitently surround Dirk with the "best supporting cast" money can buy year after year. Dirk is in a way a very lucky guy. To have a owner who will spend that kind of $ to try to win a ring. With all due respect to Kidd how many owners can afford to pay him nearly 9 M at his age?

Depending on how you look at it Haywood is a 13 M backup cernter (6.5 contract plus 6.5 in Tax) Its not just this year its been just about every year sinc ethey last got to the finals.

Peja played himself out of the rotation in the Finals. He was terrible the first few games. But yes, he is a champ.

There are enough billionaires in the league to compete with Cuban, Buss and the Grousbecks. While there is some validity to your argument, it's not like the teams I'm talking about had problems that were greater than just bleeding money. Indiana had the Malice and JO's injuries. Orlando, who knows, but it doesn't look good for them. LeBron quit on Cleveland, even though he was pulling a lot of the strings. Denver had Carmelo quit on them. Utah imploded.

That's not what I am saying. They beat the Heat in a best-of-7 series without those two, so they are still a very good team. Would they have made the Finals without Haywood? Who knows? but it certainly wouldnt have been impossible considering.... they beat the Heat without him

this will be an end to my gloating but had to share this...classic line around 20 seconds....why could we not have an owner like Cuban instead of MLSE and its beancounter masters?
