Somehow I guess cause I read some Raptors trade rumours the Google algorithm keeps recommending me Siakam trade rumours and lemme tell ya, there's a lot of interest but from teams that think they can get him for a discount.

What's the narrative out there? That we're desperate to trade him or something? The Lakers one is hilarious, the last one I read is the Mavs having interest to pair up Siakam with Doncic and Porzingis ... there is literally nothing else on the Mavs remotely interesting to make that trade. Then I see Jalen Harris for Siakam? What's going ON out there?

Even in my yahoo pool, I got Siakam and just got offered a 2 for 1 where the best player I'd get back is Caldwell-Pope :banghead:

The only times he traded FRPs, we got a borderline all star or a star player. Lets say we get Myles Turner. Does anyone think he's going to move the needle for this team? He definitely can't guard Embid. In fact, no one can't guard Embid, unless we go back in time and get a younger version of Marc Gasol. This FO is not going to give up a FRP, just to do a trade to get knocked out of 2nd or 1st round. I mean, most of our core players were drafted in late first or 2nd round.

Considering how deep this draft is, they would have to be high to give up their FRP. They have a vision, which is to have a team that can play position-less bbl, with a lot of length and athleticism. I watched Banton play in a couple of 905 matches, and this guy is going to be the starting PG in about 2 years. He is already hitting step-back threes and the sneakily athletic. He just needs to slow the game game down, which comes with time and more reps.

If at all, I think the raptors would try to get Gallo or Bogdan for Dragic, cos the Hawks need cap space to re-sign their guys this off-season. And may be try to get smith for a 2nd from PHO. We need scoring off the bench first and foremost. Gallo or Bogdan will help the team in that regard. It's better to let Siakam, Precious, Boucher and Scottie to defend the opposing Cs by committee than to over-pay for an average big that won't move the needle anyway.

1. Raptors recently traded a FRP for shell-of-himself Ibaka in 2017. Ross + 1st for Ibaka. Raptors got knocked out in 2nd round.

2. Pretty sure everyone is saying this upcoming draft is weak?

Let’s go all in on the Long Bois. Both players have another year on their deals. Grant wants a big extension next year. Let’s see if he can earn one as our 6th man leading our bench in the playoffs.

Tor gets: Jerami Grant, Trey Lyles
Det gets: Dragic, Flynn, Svi, 2022 1st, 2023 2nd

Big bench of Grant, Lyles, Boucher, Birch, Precious, Banton

Who wouldn’t want Siakam.

Theory:

Now let’s say Siakam WAS being shopped around in the off season. I mean two bad seasons in a row and making max money, Webster needs to gauge how much Siakam is worth - due diligence etc.

And now that Siakam is playing like a star player again, on this theory, everyone thought they could get him at the price they could have had back in the off season when they were putting feelers out there.

Barnes, Precious, Dragic for Gobert, if the Mitchell Gobert beef is real.

We suddenly have a crazy good starting 5 that is reminiscent of the 2003-2004 Pistons, with dominant defensive players who can score in all five starting positions. We’d still need to fill in the bench with a backup guard (Tj mconnel?) but that’s a dangerous team.

I hate the idea of trading Barnes, and I think that any trade of home probably bites us. But yeesh, that’s a killer team.

Preposterous. Barnes isn’t going anywhere unless KD, Giannis, or Luka are coming back
