In the full game replay video posted here https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1884240 at the 2:35:00 mark where the Canada players walk to the center of the court to thank the fans and then walk out, Nembhard seems to be walking OK (though a big gingerly) and he has a sleeve over his knee and upper calf. When he sustained the injury he seemed to be pointing at the the upper part of his calf.

I respect him and his career, but yes I think its time. The guy writes stupid articles for the Star after each Team Canada exhibition game and he's not even there and he didn't know where to get the box score until the middle of the first game in Australia. There's no interesting parts in his content. He just summarizes the game in 3-4 paragraphs. At least someone like Blake Murphy though not being there in person, would offer insight to other things like who's gonna make the team, etc.

It’s pretty shameful that Doug hasn’t tweeted about giving out false information. Terrible journalism on his part.

"As expected cory Joseph will be joining the team in China. Not much to report, it's been known he always wanted to play."

Latest odds on winning group H.

Australia +125
Lithuania +145
Canada +300
Senegal +20,000

https://www.oddsshark.com/nba/fiba-world-cup-betting-odds

Anyone remember what they were back in July? (I can't find the page in this thread where we were discussing them).

That ranking factors in pool difficulty, 2nd round draw, 1/8 match-ups - think of it as a predicted finish not a "power ranking".

We never had pool odds - only odd for winning the whole thing.
Lithuania is looking way stronger than Australia to date.

Here's the box score

https://www.fibalivestats.com/u/AUSO/1310979/

- Birch did not play - looked okay( load management ? )

- The broadcasters mentioned Keane who also didn't play will likely be back Monday

- Still no Heslip ( ? ) The Canadian media coverage of this team is rather shameful - It's not on the writers, but their bosses who are so obsessed with hockey and only hockey in this country that make the travel decisions.

- We apparently have a new sponsor judging by our jerseys - Sportsbet an Australian online bookmaker . Perhaps the Chinese Triads ( read Mafia ) will sponsor us when we hit their fair shores.

- Nembhard looked somewhat okay after the game.

- Best appeared to turn an ankle as well, but walked it off .

- Rowan Barrett has apparently been kidnapped - no sign of him with the team. This appears to be a Toronto Raptor coaching show - even Phil Handy there.

- Give the CBC credit for showing these games - I think they want the team in the Olympics even more than us ( they have the Tokyo 2020 media rights ).

Thanks.

This article from July 25 has group winner odds from then.

https://www.sportsbettingdime.com/news/nba/2019-fiba-basketball-world-cup-group-odds/

Australia has gone from 150 to 125.
Canada from 175 to 300.
Lithuania from 200 to 145.

I think this pretty accurately reflects how much things have changed given the participation changes.

This link has a table showing odds of winning the tournament as of July 24, July 29, and August 16.

https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/fiba-odds-win-2019-world-cup-championship-united-states-serbia-spain

Canada's odds have gone from 50-1, to 80-1, to 100-1.

The odds for every team but Serbia and Greece have gotten longer or stayed the same since July 24, but ours have lengthened the most.

Doug Smith stands by his Cory Joseph story. I think it's hard to cover this development from Canada - there seems to be some disconnect between Team Canada management and the coaching staff on the ground . I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. I do think there's a fair bit of shooting the messenger going on now though......

Man, I don't know what's wrong with Doug but Nick Nurse here sounds pretty convinced that Corey Joe is gonna meet them in China. Why would Nurse lie about a conversation he had with Corey in the morning. Unless Doug knows something that SacTown will eventually not let Corey go (that Corey doesn't know yet).

I hope Nurse and the rest of the coaching staff aren’t put off from coaching the national team due to the pathetic player turnout.

Yes - I saw the interview to, and my inner fanboy certainly wants to believe it to be true. I'll say this, Nurse has a personal relationship with CoJo from his 2 years coaching him on the Raptors so you'd think they have solid, honest communication. I think it fair to point out that it's not only Smith who's had doubts about CoJo, both Grange and Carlan Gay have tweeted or run stories on Cory's commitment, first he wasn't coming to camp - then he was joining them in Sydney and now he's meeting them in China. It's perfectly reasonable to be skeptical. Personally I think he's been on the fence all along and it's obviously a very tough decision for him.

The more important question is, just how good will he be if/when he shows ? Missing all the games and practice is going to be tough-I think we should temper our expectations.

What is the date when all the World Cup teams have their 12 man rosters finalized?

The FIBA-approved list of players will appear on the website with a week to go before the start of the tournament on August 24, 2019. It is the deadline for teams to enter their official player lists.

The 12-man World Cup rosters will be finalized and confirmed during the Technical Meetings to be held on August 29 and August 30, two days before the teams tip off their campaigns.

With the current state of the roster, Nurse is the most exciting thing about this team IMO, and he's not even Canadian

Yeah its nice to hear the AS/NZ commentators marvel at the plays Nurse draws up to get guys open. This morning's game though the guys simply missed a lot of wide open shots (that's why we need Joseph and Heslip back)
