By tip this game is going to be cheaper on TM than 75% of regular season games.

Just sad overall. Case study for "pricing" and projecting demand being totally miscalculated by MLSE. As a die-hard Raptors fan, this isn't a game I need to be at: win and you got to win again on the road just to advance. I'm sure bunch of others feel the same way as well. This game simply shouldn't have been priced as a Round 1 playoff game.

Do season ticket holders have the option to refund the play-in ticket back to MLSE (at a fee) if they cannot attend and cannot sell by themselves?

Unfortunately not. Season seat holders will be taking "losses" if they don't go. Even if they do go to the game tonight, it's still a "loss" because the going rate is less than what they paid to MLSE. This is one of the downsides of being a seat holder: got to absorb games with weak demand/highly priced. It's not all fun & games for seat holders contrary to popular belief.

The fact that they sent out the 'park your membership' email again yesterday means its pretty clear there's a signficiant amount of SSH who strongly considered/already have opted out for next year.

Honestly outside of 2016 ECF and G6 vs Milwaukee + Finals in 2019 I can't remember a time where the secondary market truly outpaced SSH costs for playoff tickets. So 7 games in like 10 years. It is probably better to just buy individually.

Interesting dynamics: MLSE prices it too cheap, scalpers and resellers make tons of money. Price it too high, MLSE makes good money, but they screw over their Season Ticketholder base and general public who bought early only to see prices drop. Also risks empty seats and low atmosphere. If only they can find the "middle."

Which is why SSH get a discount priced in. They buy every game.

We will take a loss on this game and any playoff games this season. And as a thank you for being there for the past 15 years we are giving you a 20% increase on your tickets for next season.

No they are instead given the option if they even want to opt into playoff seats at all when reg season ends. So you didn't have to get playin if you knew you couldn't go 3 weeks ago

Has it ever happened that season tickets paid for got a rebate after the organization change directions over the summer?

I mean the season ticket price hike of 12-20% is strong indication that Masai will bring back Poeltl, GTJ and FVV (going into the luxury tax) to compete. So if there is a chance Masai changes direction and lets one or two of them leave via FA and then retool by trading either Pascal or OG, then next season might be sub 0.500. In which case, I'm sure the season ticket holders would be upset at the price hike and demand a rebate

No refunds whatsoever. This is the benefit of pro sports teams having a season ticket holder base. It allows them to diversify risk by having "fixed" income during stretches where the team is bad as well as good. They can then selling single tickets at dynamically set pricing (variable income). We as season seat holders absorb the risk that the team can be bad and ticket values will drop. Not ideal, but at same time, we benefit during good times like the recent decade stretch here (Masai era). I aint complaining as a seat holder. We can't always have it rosy like this past decade. Still great value in having season tickets for those that go to games, etc.

I'm wondering what had happened after the VC years and even the Bosh years because I got in as a SSH in 2012 right after the lockout for the shortened season. This was after the Raptors had tanked and drafted JV to stash him in Europe for the year so this literally was a blatant tanking year (though bad job at it with Casey coaching, Alan Anderson and 13 game Bargs). MLSE was so desperate for new season seat holders that they were offering super discounted ticket prices and free courtside seats to a game. I negotiated and was able to get 2 games of courtside seats (this was in addition to the games already have). Service was impeccable that first couple of seasons. Then they made the playoffs in 2014 with WE THE NORTH promotions, and then a waitlisted for SSH started. Someone told me that they told them the waitlist was at 16,000 this year (I need someone to confirm that - that's crazy). Was there not a waitlist at the height of the VC years? or did it take many years during the Bosh era for SSH to opt out and such the prices started to come down when I got in in 2012?
