I still like him though.

I don't think we need to give up a lot to get him--just look at last year's draft, which wasn't considered bad by any means. For Alabi, all we gave up was a top-40 protected 2013 2nd rounder + cash (which we later got back when we took Ajinca). Memphis sold Dominique Jones to the Mavs for cash. Tibor Pleiss was sold for cash.

Teams with multiple late round picks (like the Bulls, who likely aren't looking to add new rookies at this time, and only acquired our Miami pick to try and get Mayo) will be prime targets to get a late pick from. If we want one (or more) of those late picks this year, I don't think we'll have to give up very much to get it.

I think you mean Valanciunas? Donatas is the slightly better version of Bargs.

No, I mean Donatas. Just imagine how many points they would score! Dynasty. It'd be like having two Kevin Durants, only better because no bigs can guard them.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Get Bargs out of the starting lineup and move D-Will in as the starting SF.

If we were keeping Bosh last year, I would have rather drafted Ed Davis than Larry Sanders, Luke Babbit, Avery Bradley or even Eric Bledsoe - all of whom would have been less redundant than having Davis & Bosh. The same with how we'd all rather have had Aldridge than Bargnani or Morrison.

The way I see it, Williams is the clear cut 2nd best prospect right now. If we're able to draft him, we can figure out what to do with the logjam later on. In his first year he'd probably be playing both the 3 and 4 - we'd get a good chance to see how his skill-set translates to the NBA.

I understand why people see a need for fit - if you develop a player in the wrong position or in a logjammed position he may never develop into the player he has the potential to be. But in this case, he seems to be a much lower risk than any of the other players. Is he a great fit with Derozan, Bayless, Davis and Amir? I wouldn't say so, there's a lot of athleticism without a creator, center or pure shooters. But I don't think we're that close to being competitive anyways.

I'm not hating on Kanter, Jonas or even Byombo. If we draft any of those guys I'll be excited for their potential and what they can bring to this roster. If either of those three turn into good players, they'd fit in immediately. But they come with a lot question marks. D-Will comes with two - is he a versatile player or a tweener? and can he defend at the NBA level? Even if he's a tweener with so-so defense, he still may be the best player in this draft.

I am pretty sure Bosh doesn't want to play with a undersized PF at C. Bosh wants someone to play C for him and spread the floor, none of those attribute fits Davis. Monroe would be a good fit to Bosh, good passer, able to play on the perimeter, able to guard center.

Sorry, I must have worded it wrong. Basically what I'm saying is that I'd rather take a good player who's a bad fit than a weaker player who's a good fit. Aldridge & Bosh in a starting lineup wouldn't have been a great fit, but it certainly would have been better than Morrison & Bosh.

They're assuming we're keeping Bargnani. Let's hope that assumption is proven to be false.

Dr Mufasa wrote:Random point, but WTF at Tobias Harris getting ranked 16th on Chad's big board. I wouldn't take Harris with the 40th pick in this draft. Undersized 4 who'll be as slow and unathletic as anyone at the position and his outside game is OK but not near lockdown enough to make up for how abused he'd get in the NBA. Harris is a Euroleague big man

This post is laughable. Check out the video on the page I posted. I agree with everything the guy says. It'll be a mistake if Harris doesn't go in the lottery.

Russillo without much insight.

Apparently BC and Eversely are watching the Final Four right now. Makes me think Valanciunas isn't in the running, because he's actually playing right now.

Who plays C?
And I think that lineup lacks shooter, unless you ask D-Will or DeRozan not to drive. The lane gonna be packed without a scoring big.

As the days get nearer, I'm really intrigued by the idea of Kanter. If he can be a legit 2-way C, the type that are very rare in the NBA, i'll be thrilled. I mean, the guy got recruited by Kentucky one of the best schools, and he's now training with tim frickin grover or whatever that dude's name is who trains with D-Rose and D-Wade in Chicago.

Just look at John Calipari's recruiting classes at Kentucky and then remember that he had Kanter as one of his top recruits. Good enough for me!
