Raps shoulda just said nothing instead of saying he wasnt gonna be traded. The loyalty thing is whatever, we know there none of that anymore. We'll hear what masai's side of how it went down soon enough.

I mean demar is moving to a world class organization and getting paid 30 million to play basketball. 30 million! Every year he plays (until they reduce his contract according to his value). Incredible man. Still the raps did him a bit dirty by telling him he was untouchable/untradeable.

Masai needs to explain this part. But the Raps don't owe Demar anything. 9 years of security and a 100+m contract is enough.
For lease.

A whole lot of jibbrish.....raptors will tell when they have to...fyi...just because US Media doesn’t like this trade since they wanted him in LAL uniform, don’t bother...ignore this crap about taxes...of all the major leagues, only NBPA complain about the cold & different country, maybe they need to educate their players on this. I have never heard those complaints/ excuses from players in NHL/ MLB / MLS or from Intl players in the NBA

It’s very narrow minded of the tv media, only Kawhi Leonard knows what he will do next year , everyone is mouthing speculations on what he will likely do, no one knows what he will do

Wasn't it a known fact that it was open season for everyone and no one was untouchable? Casey just got cannedreports were everyone was available.

The reality is that at the time that Masai spoke with Demar he probably truly believed that there was no trade going to happen. Deep down Masai probably wanted Demar to be a career Raptor just as much as Demar wanted it. When they chatted in Vegas, it was just preliminary talks so probably no names. Masai has a good relationship with all his players. He's not malicious so I don't think it was a lie. Lying is with the intent of hiding ulterior motives. That's just not the case here.

A few days later as things heated up SAS wanted Demar and that was probably a starting point but it still took time to work it out. I'd bet Masai thought about ways to not include Demar but it just wasn't working. In the end, the Raptors did what's best for them. Demar has every right to be upset, he can believe he was lied to even if he wasn't. He's going to a great situation and under an all-time great coach.

Media spin cycle. Got all the sheep brainwashed so quickly.

This is all so hilarious too because all the demar fan boys were 100% sure that jv was getting shipped out.. Masai fires Casey and trades demar instead. Masai is a smart guy and his moves show his basketball acumen.

There's no need to do this. If DeMar asked him outright and Masai said no trade, then Masai lied to him. He could say anything before that, "I will trade you first chance I get" and it doesn't matter.

Maybe don't get ejected in game 4 and don't play so bad that you get benched in game 3 and you don't get shipped out

Yeah man.

It’s bad enough the media is spinning this ****.

The casuals are buying it . And even more alarming than that . The local hockey-first crowd is buying it too.
If you get even a 1% chance to aquire Kawhi you **** do it FFS! I understand people are attached to DeMar who is a fine player but it’s Kawhi Leonard . KAWHI LEONARD.

All the negativity from casual raps fans on IG and Twitter irks me so much .

Makes sense why he was mad.

The Raptors publicly said everyone is available. If Demar can't understand that, and is going to nag management multiple times to reassure him that he that he is not going to get traded it is on him.

Yeah the worst is the puckheads who know nothing about basketball suddenly become so knowledgeable with opinions like "bad trade. He doesn't wanna be here. He's gone after next season." it's like stfu u don't know anything about basketball how wtf r u talking about.

Like I don't know anything about hockey so when leafs Signed Tavares I asked questions. How good is he, is this a good signing etc. Genuinely curious. I don't go around making statements like "yehh what a great signing for the leafs this takes us over the top" as if I know so much about tee sport.

Not just Demar, but other NBA players tweeting shock/surprise about such a loyal raptor being trade. Might be a bad look for the organization league-wide among players

This sh*t is getting annoying...

The Celtics dumped IT on his head after he sacrificed his body and career.

The Clippers gave Blake a bloody fake banner ceremony only to dump him for a mid 1st rd and cap space within months.

It's utter bs how Americans just want to jump all over this franchise any chance they get.

The Raptors will never get the same pass as the American teams for trading players that way. Like we should be grateful enough they agree to play (work) here for millions.
