I don't think people should turn on him for this tbh. Its pretty normal for players to be mad at management when they get traded, especially when they didn't want to be traded

But it shouldn't be "normal". Again, be professional since you're working for a professional business. Masai did what hes paid for and brought in a better player on accolades alone. Masai is supposed to make the team better, not do what Derozan wants. He can be mad and frustrated behind closed doors, wouldn't hold it against him, but once he goes public, gloves are off.

I expected more from Derozan the man. Im very disappointed. I wouldn't boo him myself, but i wouldn't blame others if they did. Have some appreciation for the millions of dollars you get paid to do something you love.

This has been Derozan's M.O. since he was drafted. Loyalty.

I can't understand how any of you are shocked by this or expected something different.

Demar has every right to be upset. He was professional about it, its not like he stated anything other than going after what Masai said in the interview.

Masai completely threw Demar and Casey under the bus in his interview. He should of never gotten so defensive in the press conference, in public. He should of been more professional.

We all know the right move was made for Kwahi. That aside, you guys are going after Demar as if he is in the wrong here. What he did is not ideal but we can’t act like Masai made it any easier on him. Guy is visibly upset, he will get over it. Still a Raptors legend.

Just read the transcript VinBaker6 provided. DD handled the questions with the same class we've seen over the years. Don't jump on the quotes, read the whole thing. It was fine.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

What organization tells their players they might be traded before it's confirmed.... That would be like a company telling you you might be fired/demoted/moved without being certain that's going transpire. Would you be a happy camper even if that doesn't happen? Obvious not, and your performance would take a hit and you would start looking for a new job.

Demar needs to realize that Masai wasn't going to tell him that he was involved in a trade that had a low chance of even happening

wth... he's mad at the management not us. He did make alot of sacrifices... he came into the season in shape and fit. Never used an injury as an excuse for anything. He played hard. He played a way alot of people didn't like but that was his game. He tried to adjust and every season he got better. Let's wish him luck! He will be a GOAT RAPTOR always for his impact and how loyal he was to our city. He wanted to stay and retire here. If anyone boos this man.. you are not a raptors fan. Yeah we didn't get to the finals... but we had the most success when he was the face of the Raptors. He deserves the biggest standing O when he's back. He has nothing but LOVE for this city. I wish one day maybe he can retire here! I wish he grows under Pop as a better player. Swallow the hate and respect the person he is.

To be honest with you, no. No. I was so mentally in this being my home. I took pride in the community. I took pride in everything when it came to Canada. Not even just Toronto, everything that came with Canada, wearing that Toronto Raptors jersey. That's why it was so tough and emotional for me when I first heard it because everybody knows what type of guy I am. It showed when I went out there and played. Whether it was for the good or for the bad, I took it like a man.

Any guesses on what we might hear?

I hate Derozan.

Might actually see DeMar focus in on defence based on what he said in that transcript.

CH: There's going to be another transition, playing for Coach Casey, and then going over to play for Coach Pop. I know you're going to Team USA, to minicamp, and Coach Pop is coaching that. What are your expectations playing for Coach Pop?

DD: I've always been a fan of Pop. There was just something about him from the way he ran his team, the way he coached, his credibility. Everything that stands out about Pop, you just have to love. So to have this opportunity to play with a legendary coach at this point in my career, I think it's one of those blessings that's in disguise because this is a cool moment to be with a guy like that. I've been with Case for the majority of my career. He gave me the ultimate freedom to be myself. First thing Case said to me when the move was made is I'm going to love Pop. To hear that from my coach, on the transition to my new coach, just makes it easy.

Rough timeline of events:

Raps engage Spurs on potential Kawhi trade
Trade falls apart multiple times
Masai meets DeRozan and tells him what he expects from him this season
One of Spurs/Raps change their stance and trade is agreed to in principle
Masai contacts DeRozan

I understand why Demar is upset but what did you expect Masai to do? Tell you that he was shopping you? Tell you that you may be traded? What good would it do to give you a "heads up" if any trade didn't go through. Realistically, had we not traded Demar for Leonard, I doubt another trade out there exists in which Demar would have been shipped out. I think he needs to understand that top 5 players don't grow on trees. Soon as the trade was agreed to in principle, what was Masai supposed to do? Say, "hold on spurs, let me warn Demar and make sure he's ok" Nah man. You accept the deal and try to close it asap before they change their mind as happens so often in sports. You can always apologize for not giving him a heads up. It's ridiculous and petty that Demar is still holding onto this.

Please, Please, Please...

Can someone make a GIF clip using the "Field of Dreams" scene with Kevin Costner and his father the back catcher at the end of the movie using Masai and DeRozan heads...

Sometimes a father and a son just need a good catch. :D
