Obviously it's a big unknown and it wouldn't even matter for a few years, but if he really pans out to be a star, I feel like he would be a huge asset when it comes to recruiting other great players to join our team. The one thing that we've never been able to do in our entire team's history.

He could end up being a very valuable recruiter.

Demar was friends with literally everyone in the league too. It didn't help attract any FAs, sadly. It certainly doesn't hurt to have a guy like that on the roster though.

DeMar was the exact parallel I had in mind. The issue with him is he simply wasn't good enough to draw other stars here. IF Scottie is, I think he definitely can. Again, a minor point in the grand scheme of things, and it's irrelevant if Barnes simply doesn't pan out to be a star that others want to play with, but when I think about how LeBron and Bosh joined the Heat, it's little things like this that can give you the edge in making those huge moves possible. Scottie has been developing relationships with guys involved with USAB since 2017.

He's more interested in helping contribute towards how his team can win and do things that are conducive to the team winning rather than focusing on stat padding and individual success whenever he steps onto the court. I think this is one of the more admirable qualities that I've noted about his basketball playing style and something thats going to be pleasantly enjoyable for the coming years, while he's wears the black and red jersey.

Mans is going to be dropping a few 10 points/10 boards/10 dimes triple dubs this season.

I can definitely see that happening, almost like Westbrook numbers but actually helpful for the team winning.

Scottie DOES have a connection to Cade Cunningham, Moses Moody and Day'ron Sharpe after playing with them in high school...maybe in 7-8 years...he puts in a few calls to old friends?

The last great dynasty in the NBA was built around a 6'3" PG. Contenders are built around elite players. It's that simple.

The Warriors were built around the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA; Curry is hardly a traditional PG.

Contenders are almost always built around elite perimeter players. In cases where the best player is a PF/C the team usually has an elite perimeter player as well.

What was the last team built around a traditional PG that won a title? Exactly. Contenders are not built around PGs.

Isaiah Thomas Pistons were good with him and Dumars.

They certainly were. That was in 1988 and 1989 though…

I agree. Pretty sure Isiah and Curry are the only small guards to have a team built around them and win a championship. Building a team around a small guard isn't viable. If the goal is to win championships.

So wait, combine measured his wingspan at 7'2.75 and Raptors at 7.4?

It makes no sense, but I'll take 7'4" and I'll also take people calling him 6'9" because he also measured 6'7" without shoes at the combine

52 seconds into this video
When Scottie came in to workout for us his wingspan was measured at somewhere between 7'3.5"-7'4". Hand width 27cm (10.63").

Yeah that's what I was referencing. Difference between the combine results and this one.

But if he has a 7'4" wingspan :o :o

Scottie Barnes is so winning right now, and he hasn't even played his first game yet

I hope we let Scottie get some time running the point and let him work through his mistakes while addressing any bad habits that he might develop. This could be a golden opprotunity for him and this team.
