Even if he never hits threes, this kid will be in the league for 10+ years.

His defence and bbiq is that good.

If he drives into 3 much taller defenders in desperate attempts to get layups, I'm all good.

The more film I watch on this guy, the more I like him. He's my type of player.

I am not worried about his size. He has a stong build like Fred, but he is slightly taller & slightly longer than Fred. He was 3rd overall in the 3/4 sprint, so he is very fast........faster than Fred. He also has a much quicker first step than Fred. His passing ability and BBall IQ are very high.

He is playable now, but if he can develop a reliable 3, he can be a starter in this league.

Well said.
He'll be a key contributor off the bench for us next season.

I would have him play off the ball, and work on 3 point shooting in Summer League.

Let Gradey, Walter, and Ocahi get the bulk of on ball reps

Dick will be great once he can handle the ball and use picks for pull up threes. That skill could have Dick become our best half court creator.

Wow he's only 21...

I thought he was like 23.

WELL THAT'S JUST FKIN FANTASTIC. I LOVE HIM EVEN MORE NOW.

A 21 year old with the poise of a 10 year NBA vet... CAN'T TEACH THAT!

Been watching so many of his clips and highlights, and I've yet to see him attempt one bad shot or force anything. He's such a SMART player, with a terrific feel for the game and the ability to dictate/facilitate the offense at his own pace.

On defense.... shades of Jrue Holiday.

Some interesting stats from last year...
4th best BPM in college
5th highest assist percentage in college
7th best defensive rating in college
2nd best defensive BPM in college

Yes - the glaring weakness is his perimeter shooting, he shot 31% on 4 attempts per game. You know who else shot 31% in college? Jrue.

I have all the faith in the coaching staff to refine his stroke and get it up to 35-38%. If we can get him to knock down his open 3s, we got an ABSOLUTE STUD.

Shead - Ochai - Davion are gonna give hell to opposing guards. Love these recent acquisitions by the FO!

I think what's good is he'll be pushing Davion for PT.

Feels like we're starting to get competition for PT at every position which is good

Interesting, does Shead have a floater game? What about heavy hands (strip balls in the key)?

I did see him make some nice floaters in the highlights that I watched. I had also read somewhere hat 25% of his shots in the 2022 season were floaters. So he definitely has it in his game.

As far as "heavy hands" goes. Not really sure about that one. I think he's more of a pressure defender......just makes you feel really uncomfortable with the ball. More of a Pat Bev swarming style defense. I haven't seen too many small guards like Fred that are able to strip a ball cleanly......even against bigger, stronger players.

As someone that watched almost every game onwards from Rajon's sophomore year (I was a die hard Ray Allen fan) - this comparison couldn't make any less sense.

Shead was the core piece of one of the most dominant defenses in CBB history.

This pick was an A+ selection. Ja'Kobe is a bit bland. Mogbo is a bit more interesting. Shead is off the rails exciting for a 2nd rounder. To me at least.

I absolutely love this video. I wish NBA teams/ players played with this much energy on defense. The game would be so much more entertaining.

I agree with you about Shead and Mogbo. At this point I am a lot more interested in watching thrm as prospects. That could change after I see Walter play a little. Shead and Mogbo are older, more experienced players/ young men. Hopefully they are able to mentor Walter a little.

FVV was getting to the rim at will in college and was a better shooter/scorer. And even he couldn't really finish insde in the NBA due to his height. Shead needs a shot in order to really stick, though it will be an uphill battle for him. I'm excited for his development thought.

His ability to handle pressure from the defence and seeing opening through traffic are the stand out for me. He was pushing the pace and making decisions at high speed, hopefully the transition to NBA pace won’t be difficult for him.

Same here, love the break down of Houston defense. Giving up the long pass as it will allow time to recover on defense. The part I love most is stunt on perimeter instead of the lazy fly by defense that we see in NBA all the time. Every single player in NBA as good enough to read and shot fake and side step, fly by should not happen at that level of NBA, it's a weak excuse for trying not to foul the shooter and becomes 4v5
