Change of scenery could be best for both sides at this point. I like Ingram and maybe him and Barnes could be a good duo but he has injury concerns and feels like this team is destined for the treadmill again next year. Miss the Siakam/OG days wish we could've kept at least one of them and at the very least we should've shipped them out west. We helped make the Knicks so damn strong with the OG addition, it's a massive blunder for this franchise

You think Masai wouldn't have preferred to send them to the west?... We weren't getting any solid offers from anybody, thus, he took the best offers which happened to be from eastern conference teams.

How do you know that he didn't ? OG is a top 2-3 defensive player in the league there likely would've been decent offers coming from out West. He gambled on quickly and Barrett and it was a terrible decision

Teams shouldn’t worry about who the teams are they trade with. They gotta take the best offer. They took the best offer and that’s all that matters.

There were no decent offers coming out of the west. We know that already. No one wants to pay OG 45 million a year. lol.

The thing is that this strategy could make sense if you’re already a contender or championship calibre team but it makes little sense if you’re a lottery team.

We didn't even get BI for cheap either, like the acquisition wasn't much, but then we throw 40mil at him. That's not a buy low, that's a trade for, and pay market value. We did the same thing for IQ, sure the acquisition was good, but then we give him a bigger contract than need be, we don't have real value contracts outside of Jak and maybe Ochai, and he's an expiring.

Not that we would, but could we get a first and expirings for BI right now? I’m honestly not sure. Maybe I just have no concept of trade value around the league, but he was sitting there for that price for quite a while.

Kinda feel the same about the OG and Siakam trades. Not that we would necessarily want them back, but their new teams would laugh at the offers - I think we’d at least consider them.

I realize “no tradebacks” is kind of a dumb way to evaluate trades between teams with different goals, but from a value standpoint I feel like it should feel a bit closer?
His value has absolutely gone down, he's a perpetually injured player who is now on a longer term contract, that's pure risk. This all naturally changes if he plays 75 games and has a good season, but right now he's that guy that we "got for cheap" on an expensive contract that hasn't played a single game.

We don't get him for the price we paid without that risk. We already mitigated some of it by getting him on a 3 year deal vs 4 year which was what he was already offered by the Pelicans. He took less guaranteed money with us than he could have gotten.

Atlanta has been striking out for weeks. They wanted Bob Myers and he declined. This is the same thing Washington did. Put it out there to see if Masai will bite. That's all this is.

Masai has 1 year left. They better lock him up

With Ed Rogers running the show now? Doubtful. Not even sure Masai would be interested in re-signing knowing that Larry will be gone soon and he'll have to deal with this nepo baby.

Going to be fun throwing this back in the faces of all the fire Masai tankers here when this team is being run by the next Babcock or Atkins.

I’m willing to bet masai gets re-signed even with that putz edward. Pelley will be of influence and so far from what iv heard him and masai are locked in

When it comes to internal Raptors matters, this is the only informed voice on the board that can be trusted.

The whole issue is overblown and I'm also willing to bet Masai re-signs.

Does this mean the Hawks are out on Masai now?

Most likely

It depends on how Hawks organizational structure is set up. Many larger companies have several levels of VP's: there are regular VP's, Senior VP's and Executive VP's. These new hires are only at Sr. VP level so there's still room at the Executive level or C-suite which report directly to the CEO.

Masai is a Vice-Chairman and President of Raptors. If he were hired by the Hawks, he'd likely sit above the Sr. VP's. They would be reporting to him.

This is true which is why it is a strange process to hire all the lower level people first. Usually if you hire a top level guy they want to have some input into who works under them.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
