You mean the year where Scottie was the one to guard the bigger C's? The year that Scottie was assigned to guard the Jokic and Embiid's of the world? Anyways, compare that roster to the one Scottie played with last year, where he's trying to blame Scottie for not being able to "carry" the team.
OG usually took those guys and then Achiuwa. They also had Khem Birch start about 30 games. Scottie guarded some C as well but not that often.
OG and Barnes mostly took that responsibility, OG played 48 games that year so I wouldn't say he
usually took those assignments on. But you see what you are doing right, crediting Siakam for being the C when underneath the hood it's the other guys who actually took on the load. Anyways, we are going way beyond the original debate, which is this:
I was comparing to the records where Siakam doesn't have a good C
Siakam can borderline carry the team without a stretch big,
Which I think is disingenuous, since Siakam played with Ibaka, Gasol, Turner during his successful seasons. And the one time he had some semblance of a success without a C, it was done by committee and he had a pretty decent roster around him (especially compared to last year's team).
Nonetheless, I think Jakob is a pretty good C, he may or may not be an ideal fit next to players like Barnes, and the stats with Mamu next to Barnes instead of Jakob is pretty eye opening, it's a very small sample size though, let's give the entire team more time to gel, some very positive results overall to start the season.
