I dont know why there is such a love affair with the name "Huskies". To me there is nothing wrong with the name "Raptors" , it was picked through a vote wasnt it? So what if Jurassic Park was popular at the time, does that even matter? People chose that name out of a whole bunch of other options at the time too. The only thing stupid about the franchise was the actual jerseys they used at the beginning, not the name.

I for one will not be a fan of the team anymore if they switch the name to Huskies without some sort of proper vote. Huskies are one of the most friendly, nicest dogs,

Starting to hate this Tim Leiweke guy. If the team didn't have such a bad historical win-loss record they would not even be talking about switching the team name at all. The Huskies existed for 2 seasons and have a worse historical winning percentage than the Raptors so you can't even use that as a reason to pick such a terrible nickname.

Someone make a vote thread on this site and after 3 -4 weeks submit it to Tim Leiweke and the organization. Hell, we need people out on the street asking as many people as possible. Huskies? lmao

Don't worry, the Raptors name is not ever going to change and the league will not ever give their approval for such a move. Unless there are extenuating circumstances involved (has there been any team name changes NOT related to a franchise moving or expansion?), Stern and his people will not let it happen.

The Raptors name was chosen fair and square at the time and the reasoning that 'we don't like it anymore' isn't going to fly with the league office.

I hope not but what about what the Bobcats are doing?

So yes, I do believe he's currently the better player and do project that will continue to be in the future. I would also take Turner over DD."

Because of the NO move and subsequent NBA expansion back to Charlotte, the league is OK with the name swapping that's going on.

There's no such logical reasoning for the Raptors to change their name.

Okay, I tried to clean up my idea a bit, moved the claw to the shorts, changed the font, etc. I like this a lot better though it needs some piping to spice it up, which I am not capable of doing in my limited graphic skills.

As you can see, I'm a fan of the contrasting colours between the numbers and the name and I like the silver stroke around everything.

Would love some more feedback on this:

I think the white ones are really nice dude! The only feedback i have would be to take one of the claw marks out (since the logo has 3 claws) and maybe curve the text on the front slightly, kind of like the Pacers Uni.

It's a good font for the Raptors actually. I'm surprised I like the font as much as I do too. I'd like it more if the numbers were colored rather than black. I like the idea of large numbers. I've disliked our small numbers on the front for years.

I would also like to see a better logo than just the claw/ball because I'm bored to death of that one.

Definitely fills the Roots/Varsity/Team Canada aspect they seem to want. I could get on board with this. It's at least classy-looking.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the font you used too... it totally works with the jersey - simple, understated, but with some neat little "savage" flourishes. What font is that, or did you customize an existing one?

Only changes I would suggest would be maybe a deeper coloured red on the away jersey (It seems like the "Raptors" wordmark already has a deeper red in the home jersey). Also, maybe add a stroke effect to the wordmark to give it a bit of depth so it doesn't look like it's printed on the jersey, but sewn on instead.

Thanks! Fair point about the claw marks, and the text is curved slightly, though not nearly as extreme as the Pacers. See the wordmark link below to view it up close to get a better sense of the arc.

I really like the font too, it just works for "Raptors" in my opinion. It's clear, yet aggressive/ferocious enough to represent the moniker, I think.

I just think the contrast between name and number makes it unique. Off the top of my head, I can't think of one team in the NBA that does that (there might be some, just too lazy to search) but I love how the LA Dodgers have the blue logo and the red number on the front of the jersey.

I can't take any credit for the font, it's called Ravenscroft and you can download it free here: http://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/Ravenscroft.htm

There is a silver stroke and a bit of an emboss to add that depth, but again on that small image it's not coming through very well. The wordmark link will demonstrate that, especially on the black background.

I kinda like the jagged pinstripes. It's an homage to the first jersey... thoughts, anyone?

If we have any hope of retaining/attracting players, forget branding - we need to keep the red/white/black scheme so that players can match them up with their favourite pair of Jordans, as seen with Jonas modelling the XIII's in this pic. :P 8-)

BTW, someone want to make a "Toronto Hipsters" joke uni?

It's sad that some of the random internet forum jersey designs are superior to our actual current ones, with a professional branding/marketing team with millions of dollars at their disposal.

Very nice. Personally, I love pinstripes on baseball unis but not on other sports unis. especially when you have giants wearing them, the vertical stripes on a 7' dude has never struck me as a good look.

I love the trim you put on the sleeves and shorts. I'm not especially keen on the font you used, though it does look sharp with the stroke around it on the home unis.

Nicely done!

Great work Raps Next GM. I agree with others, that font choice does work really well for the RAPTORS & TORONTO wordmarks.

Thanks... yeah, I actually like the font you had. Unfortunately, I'm working off of the free fonts that I have installed on my work computer, and I don't have admin privileges so I can't install any of the nicer ones out there. Could be worse - at least it's not comic sans :p

What are you talking about ? Leagues don't care about name changes, usually ends up being an increase in income. Stern only going to say no if we pick a name that is potentially embarrassing (cross toronto rock off any list)
