This team plays with fire far too often, up 18 over a really bad defensive team in the second half, and still lose, is a bad bad loss. Taking the foot off the pedal is something this team has to stop doing, they are not good enough defensively to play that way. Up big like they were today, they have to close the game out and step on their throats.

Its pretty much guaranteed that our offense will drop come the playoffs. Simply because DD relies on getting to the line a lot to be effective and in playoffs refs will swallow their whistles so it will prompt DD to try to be a leader and get his points in other, much less efficient way which will only dig this team deeper...

Wow, I fall asleep and this is what happens. DD was getting fouled everytime someone breathed on him and Lowry was hitting miracle 3's I thought the game was done.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I've been saying this for a while (although without statistical backing) but DD's closeouts are awful. Anybody know his opponent % on spot ups? He's not prepared to give a secondary effort after the initial lunge at the shooter.

I hate that the raptors continuously play terrible against crap teams. And Houston for the way they played tonight, are a crap sub .500 tea.

I have to say this man. I could make a 10 minute clip of Derozan this year denying to pass to an open teammate. He'll do this signature multiple pump fakes to bite his defender (usually on baseline or elbow area); but you can also see someone beside him wide-open for a jump shot, it seems always the case with JV. I've seen it many times from him already time, and time again. I get that he gets to the line consistently, but at times he over relies it way too much. One example in this game he attract two defenders instead of giving the ball to JV he elected to spun to get his. Derozan is making it harder than it should be. Share the f**kin ball!!

Edit: it's not about him having a bad game or good game. Just my observation on his tendency what to do with the ball.

Just watched the game. The pick n roll defence was so bad tonight. Every time Houston set a screen we looked like we had no idea how to stop it. Definetly deserved to lose this one.

1.22PPP on 37.1% Frequency... :-?

EDIT: **** me and he's allowing opponents a +4.9 shooting % overall, +9% from 3!!!

It's been talked about recently on the forums but this is still trending downwards. Wow.

Derozan got to the line 2 possessions in a row and Lowry thinks he can do the same.

No.

What's Lowry even doing on the floor in that instance? Let alone thinking he can score against an NBA player?!? Crazy!

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Those are bad numbers. How our other starters look in that regard?

The meltdown here after every loss gotta be what brings me here every morning. I don't take losses well either but thank God am getting better. The players have moved on yet we r killing ourselves over whose fault it was.

Defense struggled, which was the biggest factor. They gave Harden and Ariza too many good looks.

I love DD, but he has some of the worst tunnel vision at times.

Back on track vs. the Nets on Tuesday. We give up 100+ to that team, we'll need to find the panac button.

We are dominating teams with winning records unlike no other team in Raptor history, which is much more telling going into the playoffs since there are no crap teams from 1-8 seed.

Add Corey Brewer to the list of offensive scrubs who caught fire in a game against us this year. Comes in shooting 28% from deep - knocks down 5 3-pointers. These things happen. Harden played an incredible game and drilled a contested 28 footer to effectively decide the game at the end. Life in the Association. Learn from it, get back to our commitment on the defensive end, and carry on. Get well against Brooklyn on Tuesday - then a trio of measuring stick games with likely East playoff teams in Atlanta, Miami, and Chicago. Should be a fun week.

We still could have taken this game had DD played a little bit smarter and shared the ball more. But oh well, now its just crying over a spilled milk.

hsb wrote:The guards have to cherish the idea of drawing the defender and pass it to the big men. They do the first part, but are close/or last in the league at the latter (just check NBA stats page to see where they are now).

JV was open late there a few times but they kept trying to get their own stuff; leading to a block, turnover or miss. Just do a hand off lol. Why work so hard when you have such an efficient scorer beside you?

At this point I'm starting to wonder if Demar just plain doesn't like the guy
