AD would likely re-sign with Boston and he gets to dominate the east and make finals runs for the foreseeable future.

People have to remember that winning is more important for players than warm weather

Think about it AD is rich paul guy, hes going to LA regardless after next year. Playing a year with Kyrie and Horford and Smart is not changing that. Alot is up in the air, will kyrie resign? How well does that team do without Brown and Tatum. They may or may not come out of the east, they would still have hayward who they would have to play so how will the team gel. No guarantee he re-signs in Boston.

He’s not leaving money on the table to go to a less winning situation

Lakers wont be a less winning situation lol. They would still have their assets and a much better team to progress with Davis and Bron. Once James retires Lakers are his team so he will be the face of that franchise. Also leaving money on the table?? He just needs to sign a one year deal and then reup with LA to get his full max 5th year.

So a team of Rozier, Horford, Hayward and Davis is suddenly a threat i dont see that team as a true contender. Thats no better than NO right now.

I'm not as high on AD as others on here, I think he is a faux superstar who gets injured too often.

But if I had to bet, he's going to Lakers and it's already in the works due to Rich Pail and Lakers trying to find a way to get AD without giving up Kuzma.

Only benefit of AD coming East is JV gets to dominate him more often

2 kicks at the can with AD/Kahwi is more than any Raptor fan could ask for. We'd probably have to give up JV, OG and a future lottery pick (after AD and Kahwi leave) but whatevs.

Absolutely. This team right now is not good enough to really feel confident about getting to let alone winning the ECF. A pairing of AD and Kawhi would give the team the absolute best chance to make the Finals and even a small chance against the Warriors. That kind of winning might very well convince Kawhi to sign a 1+1 to take another shot with Davis next year.

Then as you said, giving up future picks after AD and Kawhi leave (if they do) would not be a big deal. We have our 2020 pick, then in 2021 we will have enough cap space for two max contracts. Failing to sign someone we use the space to acquire picks for taking on bad contracts (replacing the ones we traded). Then we have our 2022 pick and cap space to take another run at free agents. Let's be honest, if the franchise cannot attract an All-NBA talent through two free agency periods that is a bigger problem than missing out on two first round picks that have a pretty low chance of turning into an MVP-level player in the first place. Even winning the lottery (14% chance as worst team) you're only getting that kind of player around 50% of the time (check past drafts if you don't believe me) - that's a 7% chance at a MVP-level player. I'll take two legitimate chances at winning a Championship over that.

If we had a choice of Beal for 2.5 years or Davis for 1.5 years by giving up siakim
and other assets im sure most here would take a Davis deal. Who cares if he leaves we would be rebuilding anyways if Kawhi left.

Another thing to note, Gasol’s value just tanked because Davis is on the market, if we miss out on Davis we could get Gasol very cheap.

As good as Siakim is right now, I don't think we can get a deal done. Prove me wrong Masai.

Yes it is! Thats what Lebron has done already. The player signs a 1+1 deal and then the team has his bird rights and can resign him to the full 5 year max after that one year. Its only in NO that he can get the supermax.

As long as AD doesn't come east. Its hard enough getting out of the east as is.

On another note, I’ve never understood how anyone would build around a C/PF anymore, unless it’s a point forward like James or Durant. I’ve always thought that a point forward, a true small forward, or guards are better to build around. Davis really hasn’t moved that team forward so far either. He goes to play with James and then what... he’s complaining like Embiid with Butler about his usage? He’s Love or Bosh playing on the perimeter and changing his entire game? Thus will be interesting because I can see all parties here making really bad choices.
