Not sure if this is serious or not, but the bottom 6 teams were so bad for most of the season. Even after all of the missed games due to injury/rest/COVID, we're 6 wins ahead of the 6th worst team.

We went 17-17 in the first 34 games with OG missing 11 games, Lowry missing 7 games and Siakam/Powell missing a few games each while we were trotting out Baynes/Boucher as our main C rotation. Then, in the next 34 games, we went 10-24...and that's with FVV missing 16 games in that stretch, Lowry missing 15, OG missing 14 and Siakam/Trent/Boucher all missing 8-9 each too plus numerous injuries/absences from bench pieces (Bembry, Watson, Flynn, Yuta and Harris all missed games due to injury and/or COVID protocols).

Even if we tanked the whole season, we probably would have won more than 11 of our first 34 games and we'd still be ahead of the bottom 6 teams. We really couldn't have done any better lottery-wise.

Loss against the Bulls on Thursday could be it.

It would be funny if they lose the Bulls game and then after being locked into the 7th spot, go full squad balls out for the final two games of the season.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Why not go balls out and expose the Mavs and Pacer? But I still think PS and FVV will sit out remaining of the season out of caution.

Never thought the day would come where we would celebrate a treadmill tank. Either you're all in or all out. Couldn't have finished in a worse spot.

I mean, we could have finished with the 10th worst record, so your complain is just wrong on its face.

But also, we're in a much better spot now than we would have been being even worse.

Sure, we could have traded away Siakam, OG, and Fred for dead weight. That probably would have put us in the bottom 5 (maybe. It's REALLY tough to be that bad, and we would be getting players back).

But that's not any better. I'd rather have the 7th pick and a young core signed long term, than the 5th pick and nobody.

We didn't have to trade them. Just do a better job tanking. Should have traded Fred though. Keep OG and Pascal

The new lottery system doesn't really reward the "all in" effort the way it used to.

I'm fine with #7. Of the thousands of guys playing college, international or Ignite ball, we get to pick a top 7 player. That's not bad.

Depends how you look at it. Prior to the lottery odds changes in 2019, the 7th spot had a 5.3% chance of landing #1 pick and 18.3% chance of a Top3 pick. Since 2019, the 7th spot has a 7.5% chance for #1 pick and 31.9% chance for Top4 pick. Last two years the 7th spot landed the #1 pick in 2019 and #4 pick in 2020.

The flattening of the odds and allowing teams outside of the Bottom4 records to get into the Top4 picks, means teams with the 4 worse records could end up with a pick they're not happy with. Imagine a team with the 3rd worse record dropping down to 5th and miss out on Cade/Suggs/Mobley/Green?

Last year Cleveland had the 2nd worst record and ended up with the 5th pick. Maybe they were expecting LaMelo Ball but ended up with Isaac Okoro. Same thing happened to Cleveland in 2019, they had 2nd worse record and expected to land Ja Morant or RJ Barrett and instead got the 5th pick Darius Garland (though Garland is not bad).

So your brilliant plan was to sit our healthy starters for... the entire season?

Raptors have the 7th best odds. The raptors last #1 pick wore #7. Coincidence? i think not.

The bottom 6 are just elite bad teams. There's no way we would be worse than them unless we put you in the starting lineup.
Houston - traded their 2 best players, looking at a very long rebuild
Detroit - starting multiple rookies, their best player is Jeremi Grant
OKC - traded their best player before the season, sat healthy players, this was disgraceful
Magic - traded their 3 best players mid season, this was a treadmill team at best so good call for them
Wolves - ravaged by injuries, long history of sucking
Cleveland - very young team

Teams 1-6 were separated by 6 games. The gap between 6 and 7 was 5 games. Those top 6 were just untouchable this year.

and 3/6 teams have other reasons for tanking

- houston pick to okc is top 4 protected (doesnt roll over, so very very important to maximize chance to keep it)
- vice versa OKC had lots of reason to be just as bad to knock houston down, its could come down to getting 4th or 5th pick from houstons or the 19th 20th pick from Miami.
- min pick is top 3 protected to gsw, their late season doesnt help but doesnt hurt as next season pick was unprotected some thought to just give it this year but make it low

Jeremi Grant and Pascal putting up identical numbers but Grant seems like a more efficient shooter.

Yikes
