Does Masai still think he could turn Simmons around?

Do the Nets want to move him as a negative value asset as opposed to keeping him until the contract becomes more favourable?

It doesn't make a ton of sense for the Nets to pony up better draft capital to both upgrade and move off of it if they can't upgrade anywhere else.

Anyway:

Fred/Boucher/Birch/Wilson for Simmons/Curry and the additional non-protected picks to do this deal.

I don't think Simmons will even be able to become a serviceable FT shooter, so I'd be out on him. But those draft assets would certainly be interesting.

Jeez it wouldn’t this would be a play for the next 3 years. Even after trading for Kahwhi Masai had to get Gasol and Green.

If we get KD and Curry. We resign Fred, and get some ring chasers, we definitely would be contenders next year

FVV, Trent (if re-signed), Durant & Barnes is not enough to compete... We still have no bench, less defense, and not enough consistent 3pt shooting, plus we lose two 1st rounders... It's a short-sighted move.

Stephen A basically can say that without repercussion. He’s not exposing any team plans by saying it, he’s not going to ruin any sources - he’s made a lot of money off of saying things like this. Brooklyn just doesn’t trade Kyrie for that package if their plan is to turn around and trade KD - they would have certainly gotten draft picks this year and next along with expiring deals. The Kyrie trade was designed with KD in mind, at least for this year when the Nets are 12 games over .500. The summer makes more sense.

I also don’t really think this hurts OG’s value at all, right now. I do think the time to move him is right now because his value is probably at or near its peak for us.

Ok now if KD really is available we have to make an offer of Pascal, OG, and 2 1st rounders including this years pick. I dont think Boston can beat that, can they?

So if we trade Pascal, OG and 2 FRPs in a Durant deal, who exactly is going to help him win a chip? FVV & Trent?

If Durant is truly on the market, the Raptors are screwed.

Teams who feel they're truly on the cusp for this year MIGHT spend to acquire Trent or FVV but no one is paying real value for Siakam or OG if they can have Durant for something similar.

Toronto wont be able to move these guys until the Durant situation is resolved.

If Durant is moved, the market for Siakam probably becomes much stronger. Some team is going to want to beat the new Durant team. Maybe it delays trades but will eventually happen.

Man people are really setting themselves up for a HUGE dissapointment when the trade deadline comes and goes without us doing anything. Can guarantee you Masai will stand pat after this "successful" road trip. My prediction is we do nothing at the deadline and then resign FVV to 5/160 and Gary Trent Jr to 4/100 over the summer while not addressing our bench or need for a Center or backup point guard.

KD, Siakam, Barnes would be a lot of mouths to feed w/ limited usage to go around, and make for some ugly spacing. I would prefer to retain some depth by centering the package around Siakam.
