Why wouldn't they be? The FO has consistently done exactly what they want. Every year since the Giannis offseason, make shortsighted trades that bleed away the future. While the team gets worse and worse in the desperate goal of making the play-in every year.

They don't like the getting worse part, but they like everything that was done to get us here.

Was never a rebuild but a retool. I'm still hoping we get a top 5 pick this year.

This trade will all depend on how the 2025 draft pick goes....If adding Ingram leads us to a 11-13th pick and the pick ends up being another meh prospect this deal is a major L.....If we end up still in the top parts of the draft or if we get lucky in the draft lotto and get one of the elite prospects this could be a Major W....

But we gave up minimal assets to get him so im fine with it...That Pacers pick will prolly be in the 20s so im fine with it....But this seems more of a play in for what type of move because Ingram is really injury prone...

Lowkey we have a pretty stacked roster on paper

IQ/Shead
RJ/Walter
BI/Dick
SB/Mobgo
JP/ORob/Chomche

If we get a top 6 pick we likely go for Malauch so we can explore moving Poeltl and saving on costs with Ingram's new contract pending.

I'd be looking at what Dick/Poeltl can get in the offseason. Prioritizing an expiring contract and a guy on his rookie deal and/or about to get his second contract. Mathurin may be a target here if the Pacers don't want to pay Turner but still need a C. I see a lot of RJ discussion but I very much doubt he gets moved. He's improved since he's been here so I doubt the Raptors move him now.

This trade was a steal for us we essentially gave up two insignificant pieces in Brown and Olynyk, plus a first-round pick that will likely land in the 20s.

The only downside is that it disrupts the tank, but realistically, the team’s talent level was already too high to finish in the bottom five. My guess is we’ll stealth tank by resting one or two players here and there, aim for a bottom-10 finish, take our lottery odds from there, and gear up for next season.

Yeah, that 1st rounder could have been anything, maybe even as good as Brandon Ingram

exactly

that pick in the 20s has 1% chance of being a 1 time all star

30 games remaining.

IQ, Poelt, RJ, and Ingram all out with injuries.

The tank is still on.

It's stronger if anything because Boucher and Brown were actually contributing to wins right now.

Ppl will never appreciate anything around here if pics are going out lol. They said the same thing about Ochai and were arguing for guys like Collier or Kyle flip lol lol.
This is a great move now to capitalize on next year. And we are under the tax since we have Ingram's bird rights

Have to assume Ingram is coming for ~$30m per, because otherwise we're going into the season as a tax team next year. So contract is fine. I don't like giving the pick up.

I forgot about this part, oh man, I can't wait to see the coping here when he forces Masai to pay him, and Masai will do it cause he gave up a top 4 protected pick for him

It's a great trade

Except the Kawhi trade was made with a multiple time 50 win team, not a multiple time 20 win team. It's kinda weird that people see that he didn't give up anything of value, and think that, that was him making a great trade, and not the inverse.

Naw,

It's Scottie and Yak surrounded by shooters, and drivers. Very different, better spacing.

Even if he signs like a 120/3 year deal, I’m worries this guy is an injury prone glass man.

Having a >$40M guy on the bench is a surefire way to mediocrity in the NBA. Just look at the Pelicans and Hornets.

I'm not a big fan of Ingram, but I'll also withhold final judgement on this trade until I see what the Raps can re-sign him for. If they can get him signed to a reasonable deal, this is actually a fairly low trade price for a borderline All-Star type player.

Two things about Ingram that I'm not fond of: his defence and his ball stopping. Although in both cases I think he's capable of being better. This will be a real development challenge for Darko and the coaching staff to see if they can get a guy who will be 28 when next season starts to change his habits a bit.

On the ball-stopping, he's definitely a capable passer (over 25% AST% the last 4 years) he just needs to learn to move the ball quicker. I think that's doable. What might be more difficult is getting a player who's been disinterested on the defensive end for much of his career to finally buy in and work hard on that end.

We'll see.

We still have our own first next season right? And Ingram is injured so we should be getting top 7 pick this year hopefully.

This is some serious coping, I will revisit this thread when it blows up in our face next year after Ingram plays yet another season of less than 60 games.

Masai told fans to be patient 30 times this year just to trade future draft capital for an oft-injured free agent-to-be.

Unbelievable, its the Poeltl trade all over again.
