Apparently Casey said that the Raps have gotten a lot of trade offers for Jose but are not trading him.

Re: ESPN: Teams inquiring about Bargnani, Calderon
I can't believe there are people on this board who believe:
a) D-WIll isn't a top 10 players
and what's worse...
b) Bargnani is better than D-WIll
Unbelievable. Bargs is the worst rebounding 7ft in the history of the NBA and has never made an All-star game. He puts up 13 good games and now he's better than Deron.. wow.

A lot of offers? I'd like to know what they are before getting agitated. There are ways to trade Jose that return no cap space or particular value.

This is the exact quote from Ryan Mcneill on twitter. (No idea who he is)
Dwayne Casey told the media that the #RTZ have gotten a lot of trade offers for Calderon but they aren't interested in dealing him. #NBA

Are you sure about ^ this...
I'm a Linner but I won't put him ahead of Bargs and Melo yet...
It should be Bargs (nicer contract) > Melo > Lin > Jose.
So it works.
I wouldn't think so, Melo is screwing this team up atm -
it should be Bargs > Lin > Melo > Jose
Masai's to do list

Sp lets see:
BC wants to resign Barbosa
Keep Jose
and Bargs is untouchable for anything short of Lebron.
Does that about cover it?

Calderon for a pick of any sorts would be great just to rebuild with a real PG.
Even though he has played great this year, he's not the answer.

My faith in BC plummets more and more with every passing game. (Also: see Wilson Chandler interest on top of this).
With the 9th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft (Fail) the Toronto Raptors select...Damian Lillard!! (I hope)

Re: ESPN: Teams inquiring about Bargnani, Calderon
I think it's just tricky because Jose's contract is so big. Who aside from the Lakers TPE can absorb that. No way BC is taking back longer contracts to get rid of arguably our only pg who expires in a year. May as well just let him expire and then throw the bank at Jennings.
Bargs obviously won't be traded unless something worth it for us comes along.
Barbosa I don't really care one way or another. He's just an interchangable guy and I doubt we could get much for him considering his patchy health. Just welcome the salary relief and then choose between him, Bayless and Weems.

I truly hope this is a smokescreen. Please do not tell me Jose Calderon is untouchable....

That would be shockingly relevant if Casey was the GM.

No.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Re: ESPN: Teams inquiring about Bargnani, Calderon
Here's an article by Jeff Blair on Jose Calderon being taken off the market.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/basketball/perhaps-its-wise-to-keep-calderon-after-all/article2347018/
To me it still sounds a little non-committal. My guess is the offers haven't been very good and this is a way to up them a little.

It would be okay with me, but he's certainly a real point guard and no one else on this roster is as good, and the draft and free agency aren't going to do much for us unless Damian Lillard has one hell of a month of March.
Like I've said before, rebuilding isn't an overnight process, and it can take multiple drafts to deal with all the holes in a roster. So maybe keeping Jose for another season is the way to go, absent a good trade.

Well if you say player X is not on the market, the opposing GM's would offer much more to obtain him, no?

That's ridiculous. History shows that when GMs pander to a small subset of fans and declare every player those fans hate to be on the block for a discount, it actually increases the value of said players.
