i changed the shades of red, edited the R and the T, and put Toronto on the frame of the T.

i went from thinking that LM's logo was ok, to actually kind of digging this edition of it (not patting myself on the back, heh)

That shade of red is what I was looking for.
The ball in that colour looks odd, and a ball in an orange colour will chash.
Maybe remove the ball and add a claw "upside down" underneath (middle claw is the base of CN tower kinda thing?)

Another suggestion could be, keeping the ball but changing the colour of it to grey. (so the grey ball balances the grey observation deck on the CN Tower)

And changing the "Raptor" font to white.

I think a more full length, skinny tower would be better also. It looks a little goofy like that, and thinning it out makes it look more like a leaf vein.

Not bad, though I think hardening the shape of the leaf would help as well. They curves soften things up a little and it looks like a kids or womens team logo, as opposed to a mens team.

my only critique with Los Manos's logo:

not sure if the claws on the letters stand out enough. i'd consider having "RAPTORS" in white and the claws grey..
the CN Tower reminds me too much of the Sonics' cartoon logo.
the basketball doesn't noticeably look like a basketball

Pacers and Wizards don't,

The city requirement is for new logos only. You see there's a logo changing fees, so cheap teams just recolour their old logos so they don't have to pay the fees. Which is why officially Wizards still have the same old logo from 1997 but just in different colours (even though they don't use it anymore).

On the other hand Pacers do use their logo as a primary but didn't have to add a city name because all they did was made very slight adjustments to the 90's logo to modernise it.

First off, I don't like the name Raptors all that much, but I like the idea of changing it less. but If they're going to, what about the Toronto Black Birds. Contrast to the Blue Jays. Kind of like a Raven, or Crow type image.

I can imagine a heavy Drum beat with the Blackbird finger picking looped over it.

I'm fine with it as long as they base the intro music on this...

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Keeping the name is fine. Don't need to change it.

Going back to the classic jersey, logo and colours will help.

Rogers has made a lot of money going back to the jays original style logo and colours. You'll see people with a new jays hat at least once a day wherever you go in the city.

The Jays have 2 championships and some really great players attached to that original logo. The Raptors have unmet potential attached to the Barney logo.

The jays are a different story. Their colours were classic and had a successful history behind it. The Raps don't and not to mention the ugly combination of purple, red, black - those colours don't work imo and you won't see casual fans buying all kinds of merchandise to wear everyday like the Jays fans do.

I think they go in a whole new direction altogether.

Don't forget the Golden State Warriors ... they could move to a different city and wouldn't need a name change.

Los Manos wrote:Thanks again for all the great comments and contributions to my Huskies design. I can't say I'm a big fan of most of the alterations made by posters here but your designs and comments have given me a lot of food for thought and I'm working on v.2 of that re-branding.

With the Huskies re-brand mostly only going down well with those open to a name change, I thought it appropriate to attempt my take on a Raptors re-brand and again get the thoughts of the fanbase during the design process. If the Toronto Raptors are to celebrate their 20 year anniversary in 2016, the only path I wanted to go down was to really get the essence of the original branding back while giving everything a much needed facelift. Included are Primary, Secondary and Third logo's along with a jersey script. This is a re-brand that very much embraces the franchises' 90's roots while doing a clearer job representing the city of Toronto and Canada.

Again it's a bit rough around the edges but I guess I'm most interested as to whether the original Raptors look is salvageable. I've not done any jersey designs that are satisfactory so I'm hoping you some of you try out the jersey script on a few designs of your own (I could use the inspiration!).

So once again let me know your thoughts.

This truly has a baseball touch to it. Not sure if I like it, but it's talented nonetheless.

Meh it was a huge reach anyway but I'm gonna try some more unconventional ones that look nothing like "normal" NBA logos .. and I am prepared for mad flame-age

I actually don't mind the concept of the claw slash being used. I think you could do some interesting things with it and abandon the dino head and maybe even the claw itself. The execution of that one isn't quite up to snuff though. It's a bit of a tricky concept since it's a bit unconventional.

a bit similar to the San Diego Chargers logo
