Hate to burst yours but if MLB can coerce the McCourts into selling the LA Dodgers, then the NBA can do the same to this clown.

Yeah, Sterling is a racist and the world is full of them, doesn't mean you just accept that fact and move on. Brutal.

when Sterling's been nothing but a model owner according to David Stern (he said this) Yes, they do.

I'm not trying to defend him, I'm just trying to inject some of you with a healthy dose of reality, because you seem to be living in la la land

Huh? I'm sure there would be plenty of potential buyers for the franchise. Fall off trees? LOL, that's cute.

oh you're sure? okay ill just take your word for it.

That's weird because it seemed like Seattle was looking for an owner for like the longest time.... they finally found one and what'd they do? moved the team. lol

your assumptions are baseless

Or you can google Chris Hansen and the group in Seattle that are outbidding everyone when teams are for sale, but only under the condition the team they buy will move to Seattle.

And before u call me racist or something I'm not saying I agree with him/support his views. I'm just saying that people are f*****ed up and have f*****ed up views. ESPECIALLY old people. How do u not know this?

What a pile of nonsense. Of course I know some people are still racist, or hate Gay people, etc.. Writing 'GET OVER IT' and 'REALITY CHECK' isn't actually going to make anyone not care. 'Hey, let's just accept racism and racists because some people are racist'. Great plan! It is actually important to ostracize and marginalize people like Sterling so that other people know that type of behavior is unacceptable. He has publicly said as bad, if not worse comments than what she recorded. Sitting quietly, 'just because' is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. You don't change anything by sitting quietly and letting them continue.

I never said to "accept racism" you're just twisting my words now. Stop it.

People can be racist, homophobic, whatever the hell they want, as long as they do it in private and keep it to themselves. I know you don't want to hear this, but it's just how some people are brought up, and it's not going to change until those people die out. It's not going to change by demonizing these people either. Not everyone is perfect. But publicly declaring you are racist and being racist in private are two separate things. Please tell me, who exactly has he harmed from this? All I'm seeing is a gold digging spoiled brat of a girlfriend trying to smear his reputation. Looks like she's succeeded.

I'm sure there is something about you that is not politically correct (or are u gonna tell me ur perfect?)

Well how would you like it if someone just took your views/opinions which are not popular with others, and spread them for the world to hear?

I can see what your point is. You can't control people's thoughts and nor can you punish people for their thoughts. You're right. At the same time he paid a 2.7 million dollar fine in the past for acting on his racist thoughts/beliefs. So yes he has hurt people with his racism and has acted on it.

Gotta love the "OMG, I'm so shocked" bandwagoners. I guarantee every single one of you has some dirty opinions on one group of people or another and you sure as hell will never share it. Even if by some chance you are a really special person and have no discriminatory views whatsoever, I'm positive you willingly associate with, are friends with, work for, and/or have family members who hold horrible views. Seriously, non of you have an 80 year old grandfather who doesn't have some crazy irrational opinions?

Okay let me rephrase.

The NBA would much much MUCH rather leave Sterling as the owner than have to go out and find a new one just because of some bad press.

Just listened to it. Thanks for posting it. I wouldn't have believed some of what was being said without hearing it for myself.

Just another crazy rich dude getting caught in some BS rant. There are tons and tons of people like him spouting crap, when they think it is in private. Stuff most of them have the good sense to never, ever say in a public forum. So... should people have the right to privacy? The right to say, do, think, whatever, in the 'privacy' of their own homes? I'd like to think so.

Not that I'm defending this nutbar. I personally hope the league finds a way to strip him of his team, or forces him to sell it. Yeah, they can't take away the kook's money, but they can at least remove this 'modern day version of slavery' that it sounds like he has going on here with the team.

Two things. The other rich ass owners all probably have their own skeletons in their closets, maybe not just racism skeletons, but other horrible sh*t as well, and DS has been around long enough to possibly know some of it, so they just might not want to make a huge stink about it and try to strip him of the team. They might just offer to buy the team from this fool to publicly end the controversy and publicity stain on the league. It isn't like DS is ever going to go to a game again, so I could easily see this happening. He probably demands some under the table kicker out of the league though. Rich guys always have to win in their deals.

Secondly, it also bugs me that privacy is disappearing due to governments spying on their own people.

9/11 was a horrible thing, but it was a hell of an excuse for the US government to break all sorts of laws to 'keep the people safe'.

/end rant, flame on.

There were tons of articles about it on places like Deadspin, ESPN, and Bill Simmons' blog in particular. It's one of the things Simmons criticized Stern on over the years.

NBA owners could easily force Sterling to sell. This is league sensitive to race. NBA has to overcome race bias as 80%+ of the league is black. They have worked hard over the years to eliminate the race issue with the broader public. Now race is center of the league.

TV Money is on the line in the next few years. 29 other league owners don't want Sterling to mess things up for them. If Sterling has 2 brain cells, he will want to sell as well. With him on board he will never be able to maximize value of the team. Which corporate sponsor is going to touch the Clippers? This is no brainer if you are Sterling. You sell. Unfortunately this guy is not fully there up their, and he will need to be pushed out.

No they really wouldn't. Sterling is a terrible owner and has been universally recognized as such by basically everyone in the game. The Clippers were a league wide joke for decades. They wouldn't have to go out and find a new owner. Potential buyers would be lining up for the Clippers. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the league has received calls to see if there's anyway to force Sterling to sell in the wake of his latest debacle.

You're basing this on what the NBA has done in the past... it seems your point is that this is not exactly news and people have known about his racism so why didn't the league do anything before? To answer this.. what you just said in your post makes sense... as bad as it sounds. And as unfortunate as it may be.

On the other hand we've never been so news-driven before as a society with social media and such so to say today is the same as yesterday isn't fair. I guess we'll see but I don't feel the NBA will brush it under the rug (at least not the way have before)

It's weird that the league has this double standard where players are so controlled while the owners can go around doing whatever they want. Remind you of something? Isn't this the biggest issue? Let's say the exact same conversation occurred and was leaked but it was a player talking... would the response from the league be similar?

lol Donald Sterling is a racist dude, we've known this for a while. But kicking him out of the NBA is not going to make a dent in the "war against racism" as some of u seem to believe. If they leave him as the owner people will forget about this after a week.

KnickerBonkerz is right though because this guy has been outted as a racist for a long damn time. He's acted on his racist beliefs and was even fined 2.7 Mil for his discriminatory behaviour. (Fine was not league related.)

The league said... meh... as an owner he's great so whatever. (Not my opinion, it's not even a fact, but this is how the league has reacted in the past)
