Re: PG: Refs screw us again in clutch time

That was a hard game to lose but still we played well on defense which was amazing to see against a top tier offense. We just need to corral some of those second chance points. If our bench could have held a bit better in the fourth we could have pulled it out, but that's the tough thing with young players like Lillard who can just keep playing the same pace all game. I was hoping for more from Patterson, but he was pretty invisible to me.

Lowry was great, tenacious defense, he probably broke Freeland's rib on that last drive. That play where he knocked the ball off Blake incapsulates his all out hustle. You can't ask him to change anything he does because he makes good decisions about 98% of the time.

I guess LMA was over his cold playing 42 minutes and getting a double-double. Still, I think he uses his off-arm like crazy, but so do all NBA stars. I just think Amir shouldn't be called a foul if LMA is cheating with his off-arm.

Lillard makes amazingly deep shots. He just sort of coasts around and just pops a three from about a meter away from the line. I just love his confidence on the court. He isn't a defender or a passer, but he is one helluva shooter.

Lemme bring you back to stats -

Vasquez: 5-13, 3PT 2-7, 13 PTS
Williams: 1-10, 3PT 0-5, 7 PTS

I know Vasquez may have issues with the fam back home but he's still chucking when he should be passing. Almost ALL OUR LOSSES ARE BECAUSE OF THESE 2 GUYS.

Are people saying they shouldn't take open threes? Cuz I never hear complaining when they go in. Rap fans are so fickle.

Fickle is definitely the right word. The board as a whole is so hot and cold game to game. Just a few weeks ago Lou Williams could do no wrong and was seen as single handily winning games for us. Now tonight this guy says almost all our loses are in part because of him.

I find no matter how good they are, the Raptors get treated by the refs like they're the quality of the 76ers.

I'm not going to play the blame game here. We lose by 5 points and some of those shoots that Klow took he usually makes. During the course of the game he became tired and didn't have that lift in his jump shot. This is where TRoss has to come in and make it an effort to create shots for himself instead of relying on his 3pt shot.

I don't know why you guys expect consistency from bench guys as if they're starters. They come off the bench for a reason. They're not starters

Given JV's minutes - will he ever become a consistent threat?

GV is getting the serious minutes in crunch time so its more logical to deduce that GV will become the more consistent threat during crunch time (though its debatable if he'll be a threat to the Raptors or their opponents).

The mistake this entire board has made is to not realize how much an idiot Ross has been since he got here.

You can add Vasquez to that. Why he chose to foul batum over his shoulder after he gets a step ahead is beyond me. He had a chance to foul while he was ahead.

We also need someone at the 4, Amir is just too soft and isn't what he was before on D.

They're playing without their all-star, if the Raptors go 3-3 in the road trip, that's great

Ultimately refs are humans and their decisions will be influenced by bias and environment.

There is a reason why Portland is one of the best home court in the league, their fans have a tradition of being rabid enough to influence refs on key calls.

This time it was especially a no brainer since NBA refs have inherent bias against the Raps. Being mostly Americans, they feel less pressure in making calls against the Raps because they receive less criticism from American media.

We have a rabid fanbase too; how's that's working out for us?

Key word is tradition.

Blazers fans having been doing it for decades, and during these decades their teams have been good often enough to exert pressures on generations of refs. You can be sure that when new refs come into the league, the older refs will tell them what they should expect in Portland, and this gets passed down from one generation of refs to the next, to the point that right now it is essentially a tradition to give Blazers home cooking calls.

Give Raps enough time, and perhaps a vocal owner of two, you will see Raps getting more home cooking calls too.

we have to be willing to overcome our fear of paying fines first though, I don't know when that is going to happen.

I'm saying that when I've gone through our losses and check the stats for Vasquez and Williams, they continuously have poor shooting nights. They need to recognize those nights when they don't have it and make the extra pass. Do a drive and kick. All those shots they take work when they're on. When those guys are cold, they give the other team runs on us AND kill our momentum.

The most glaring thing is that neither WIlliams or Vasquez show up against good competition. It's easy to go 11 of 19 against Denver, but where are those numbers tonight?

Start of 4th quarters always kill us when Lou's not cooking. Vas and Hans is too much stupid to overcome.

That's the thing about him, he's the ultimate streaky/chucker player. He'll either make you get a huge lead because or offense, or just throw away the lead cuz he sucks on defense and can't get it going on offense. What pisses me off even more is that he looks for his own shots when he should be getting other guys going like JV(who he never passes to) so many frustrating calls, I really want Casey to take a fine and someone to release the vid on these refs, they looked like they didn't know how to ref and were scared of the fans. I can't forget Casey and his dumb rotation and love with Vasquez, hansbrough messed up there and the refs obviously capitalized. This is what I said, if you're not going to call fouls before, you can't all of a sudden calls ticky tack fouls on our guys. They gave the blazers the benefit of doubt most game and helped them get back getting us into foul trouble in the 4th. Casey refuses to go to JJ who was having one of his best games and is a great defender, JV was getting murdered all game long. I don't even want to mention the clear path foul, if anything, both were clear paths.. they took so long with our play.

Those guys seriously need to be fired or sent to the d league and it should be in the news why they were sent there. You can't blame Lowry, he got good looks but just missed. He was trying to will our team to a win cuz no one else was doing anything, Casey had Lou out there but he did nothing. He brought in ross late while keeping Vasquez on the floor, brought in JJ too late and I can actually understand him sitting Val because he wasn't getting calls but you gotta ride him out. Lowry tried to get calls and was getting hacked but he didn't get any, we touch aldridge/lillard and its a foul, it was so inconsistent and stupid overall that I feel like slapping and beating the crap out of those refs.

Umm we have a SG named Derozan who is a scorer but is unjured.

Melo is much more of a complete player than Demar on offense, don't even compare.

JV didnt play down the stretch even though Freeland was out there. Casey's tough love for that tech JV got earlier? Horrendous. Take a fine you cheap bastard.

Amongst all the anger here, we just took a contender to the bitter end and barely fell short. If calls actually went our way, we would have won.

Theres no point now in being angry as it will get me no where so I need to take the glass half full approach. We have to keep this effort consistent.
