I'm nearly certain Masai/Webster are targeting players, via agents, who are not yet on the buyout-rumour-mill.
That said, I think a lot of these players are after PT/contracts, not rings, and that may have been a slight oversight on the FO's part; we will see when it all shakes out in a couple weeks.

Both are end of bench guys anyhow.

Miller is way better than Stauskas. Miller actually has a well rounded game.

It doesn't seems like the Hawks are releasing some of their vets...so what's a realistic option now for a backup combo guard and big?

I was hoping Lin and Dedmon will be available later...but it seems otherwise.

Don't think Bazemore will be bought out, I think he has one more year on his contract. Though, he would be a very good addition if the opportunity was there. Perhaps even better than Matthews and Ellington.

Wes and Ellington are 32 and 31 respectively. Those guys are still young enough to get decent sized contracts. I don't blame them. We need guys in the mid 30s who are more inclined to chase rings than money

I think Masai said as much during the presser for the Gasol trade in terms of talking to agents. That makes me think that Matthews and Ellington shouldn't have been surprises.

The only spot where we can offer some good minutes is the back up PF position IMO. As such, I can see Chief Morris (if he is healthy), or maybe even Pau Gasol (if he gets bought out) coming here. Only other position is the 3rd PG spot, but this one is hard (since who wants to play back up to FVV?)

I definitely don't see Gasol coming here to play PF, and he's not getting C mins ahead of Marc or ibaka. We need someone more mobile than him anyhow.

I wouldn’t mind Channing Fyre on this team if he gets bought out by the Cavs. 3pt shooter and has championship experience

So Lin is in.
We just need another rebounder.

Everyone pray to the gods that Morris gets cleared from injury or Tolliver gets bought out in the next week

Check the stats reported in this article: https://www.bball-index.com/marc-gasol-dpoy-candidacy/

Gasol's league ranking in the different categories have changed since it was written but the fact that he boxes out so well to let other guys get boards should help even if we don't pick someone up.

I'm inclined to think that we won't unless Dedmon maybe gets bought out. I suppose there is Markieff Morris but he's out for at least another month and will probably need at least a week to get back into game shape.

Tolliver is my smart pick for Toronto who needs stretch big who can still play some defense. Minny is out of the playoffs so I could see them parting ways. Wouldn't even mind getting Luol Deng to round out the team who is playing a sneaky good role in low minutes.

Check Deng's stats this year: 16 PER, 35% from 3, 31st among SFs in Defensive RPM.

How's Tolliver been doing this season? Last time I checked, I thought he was benched

He is still 37% from three, but on during his last two years where he had a bigger role he was closer to 40%. That is damn good for any stretch big. He is also a slight positive on the defensive end.

Now all we need is a shooter/rebounder like Markieff Morris and we're set for the finals.

From Val/Wright/Miles to Gasol/Lin/Morris

That would be insane.
In Masai We Trust :meditate:
