Lmao at Portland being the team that voted against. Makes sense as their path to the playoffs is steep

You realize they all are getting 4 months off right? That's a really really long off-season they already had.

Unless you make the conference finals or finals, you are only going to be playing for a month and still get 3+ months off.

Remember last year we won the title middle of June and we were in training camp end of September, that's only about a 3 month break.

Four months in a COVID lockdown is not the same as "four months off" . If players were used to visiting family and friends, exploring the world, playing pickup at their local gym, working out with other players etc etc, it's likely none of that occurred this "off" season.

I'm not sure if I'd make the players burn up all their vacation time stuck in COVID lockdown, but then again, everyone is making sacrifices.

These are multi-millionaire athletes that work for an organization.

Everybody is stuck without vacation, people have been laid off work, people are struggling to pay their bills and mortgages etc. Also many of these players were still able to have access to very private and exclusive workout/basketball facilities or had their own personal gyms and basketball courts.

At the end of the day the players were able to spend time with their immediate families and rest their bodies for four months. I don't think any NBA player is going to complain about playing in August and September and then starting the season again December.

Yeah I agree that there likely won't be much pushback, since they are paid very well. But I'm just saying, having "four months off" isn't the same as their scheduled, timed, planned vacation time.

Yeah that's getting pushed back for sure. But also this date to arrive in Orlando makes no sense. Are they not isolating for two weeks before teams get together? If they want 3 weeks of training, they need to arrive in Orlando by like June 16th. All isolate for two weeks then start training camps to make the July 31st start date.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Think of all of the players that have been out protesting that are now going to be travelling to an isolated Disney World for the playoffs. What if one or two guys test positive again? Then what? Shut it down again or you treat it like an injury? They are so desperate to not lose money that they're coming up with these ridiculous schemes to resume the season. No wonder there's 5 teams in the west fighting for a playoff spot and one in the east. They are trying to get as many stars into the playoffs as possible to recoup money. From a competitive, sporting POV, this absolutely reeks. All of the teams that have fought for 60 games for home court are being shafted. We're being shafted because of the crap schedule we will now have to play to retain 2nd seed. And even then, why does it matter? We don't have HC. The season has been tainted. Why continue?

I said in another thread that this isn't the EPL where it was obvious where the season was headed and where every league match is equal. This is the NBA where the playoffs ultimately decide the champion. To have that tournament hosted with no fans, on a neutral site, is just bogus. How could anyone be proud of winning the title in these circumstances? I will of course watch because I miss the Raptors but this just isn't the same. Injured players back. Hot streaks over/to begin and cold streaks over/to begin that likely never would have existed. I mean if ever a year that a team has an asterisk next to them, it's this year. If they wanted to recoup the money from the regular season so badly, they should have come up with a one time gimmicky tournament to appease the TV companies, not this half-assed approach. It's infinitely worse than what the NHL came up with and I wasn't too fond of their idea but compared to what the NBA cooked up, the NHL seem like geniuses.

What governments want is a whole different thing. Yeah I think they don't care. But the NBA should allow some quarantine time upon arrival regardless of testing everyone. This will most likely fail if they rush things. If teams arrive, they test everyone and get a half dozen positives before even going into the bubble, they need two isolate those people and the players that were in contact with those players. Certain team could have their camps delay. Then there is the perception of unfair advantages for certain teams.

I prefer the alternative that involves basketball to one that doesn't, thanks.

If you want to wait until the pandemic is "over" before playing "normal" basketball again (it may never even be "over" if there's no workable vaccine), you're going to be waiting a hell of a long time.

What else can they do? Do you have a better alternative? I mean this is a multi-billion dollar enterprise. They’ve thoroughly researched the hell out of this thing. There is no better alternative than this one. Literally nothing. You’re like an old man shouting at the clouds because you don’t like change.

I would suggest you simply not watch it if you feel so strongly about it. Nobody is forcing you to do so. Otherwise we don’t need the negativity here. The rest of us are starved for basketball. If they were playing on a floating island in the Pacific surrounded by wild hippos I would still watch.

I didn't realize you spoke for everyone on this forum. Just like nobody is forcing me to watch, no one is forcing you to read my "negativity". You can add me to your foe list. And to be clear, I never said I wasn't going to watch. I said I don't agree with the coming back for the sake of coming back because the sporting integrity is being compromised in their proposed plan.
